You are correct, @Joe Riley . That was part of the political area, which also included things like gun control and religion. I think that this will just be a temporary ban on politics at SF. It was a large part of the forum, and since this also kicks out the other topics that went along as part of that sub forum, it will stop a lot of discussion. Even discussion of current events will be next to impossible, because a lot of the current events do have some political aspect to them. The other side to that, is that everyone (on both sides of the political spectrum) felt like they were the ones being discriminated against by moderation, and what should have been decent discussion deteriorated into verbal rioting, which upset the whole forum. Probably, many , if not most of the posters (on both sides of the political fence) could have discussed things without that, but once the first arrow went flying at some person (no matter who shot it) then the war was on. I am not sure how this is going to be stopped without a lot of heavy moderation for a while , removing posts that are attacking other people, and even banning people from the political part of the forum until they can settle down and discuss things peacefully. The way it Was going, they were all so busy fighting , that no one really heard the other side of the argument anyway; so I think that taking it off the forum for now was probably the best option, until it can be handled better.
Although I'm not doubting you @Steve North, I'm pretty sure I've see Seabreeze wish the Jewish members on the forum a happy holiday whatever it happened to be at the time. Matrix doesn't post much so I wouldn't expect to see him posting anything. I may be wrong though, I just can't imagine a forum admin saying that.
I don’t know why Matrix would say that either, and Steve has wished people a good day on Jewish celebration days in the other forum owned by Matrix, and apparently was not told to stop in that forum. Here is a post from SeaBreeze wishing any Jewish members a happy Passover; so I just don’t understand why it would have been an issue when Steve did it.
@Steve North Matrix took up a vendetta against me after I used the word "Chinaman", supposedly getting negative comments about it. We communicated incognito, via email. I learned his real name (I believe) is Oriental-sounding. Whether that contributed or not, I dunno. My whole point was, if I refer to other Nationalities, such as French (Frenchman), English (Englishman), it's OK, but why? Because there is no other fitting word? The whole deal was a crock of B.S. Frank
There is NO WAY I would ever go back to the other senior forum.. Yes, I am on the low carb forum and I haven't had any problems............................... yet... Should I have any, I will do the same thing again... I believe there is no reason for that behaviour.. We are all like a family on here and very peaceful.. Regardless of your religion, we respect each other..
