My ex was trained so he could use the kit.

In Hungary it was the law that if you saw an accident you had to pullover and help in anyway you could if you were the first on the scene.

Knowing how to use a First Aid Kit is fine, I know how. But, without proper ID, showing this, a person can get into trouble. Law enforcement can ask for an ID that shows training/experience or the person is a doctor, nurse, officer or firemen.

A person can pull over here, but should only call 911 and/or console with the people involved. Any kind of emergency care pretty much has to left up to professionals. Who wants to lose their home, etc., due to a law suit from something happening to the person/people you helped. Not me. I definitely would want to help, but.

I said in Hungary it was the law.

Also my ex had the credentials to help in an accident. He was auxiliary highway patrol in Ohio. Don't know if his ID was valid in CA though. Never had to use it here anyway.

I still have the one I carried as a paramedic.

Air bags deflate almost as quickly as they inflate. A lot of people are hurt by the airbags, and some even killed but, on balance, they do more good than harm.

Some states have Good Samaritan laws that cover civilians pretty well as long as what they were doing was well intended.
