@Martin Alonzo "..... but money can buy almost anything here"

As it is almost everywhere, despite oppressive laws and extremely dire penalties offered for breaking them. The "War on Drugs"? A sham. Frank

We are the same way, BUT, it just depends on if the home owner or apartment leaser can actually pull the trigger. There can be a big difference between shooting at targets at a gun/rifle range and shooting a person. Some folks have asked if we hunt.........nope.

I lock my door at night when we go to bed. Never locked during the day even when we leave the house to shop or visit the children. I am no longer armed. When I moved to Oklahoma I gave my arms to BIL. I sometime wish I had kept my handgun since I am physically unable to defend myself or my wife.

I don't lock my doors when I'm at home...I always lock them when I go out.

:(Thank you so much for your kindness. I do miss my Mother dearly for she was my best pal. :)My fiance is a great comfort and a balance for me too. I'm so glad I'll be getting married. Both happened at the same time, so it's a see saw of emotions. Again, thank you so much, for everything.

:(Miss my Mother so much. It's so sad when your best pal passes. But, my fiance is keeping me balanced and is a great comfort for me. :) This is quite an opposite of the pole of emotions at the same time! Thank you so much for everything.

Thank you so much for everything. I do miss my Mother a lot, for I'm an only child. I always remember the song "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" and tears start rolling down my cheeks of appear in my eyes. But I have my upcoming marriage to look forward to, and my fiance is a great comfort for me in many ways and he keeps me balanced. It's been a roller coaster ride of emotions at the same time, though. Thank you again so much for everything!

:(Yes, being an only child we were very close and were pals. So I miss my Mother a whole lot. But my fiance keeps me balanced and keeps me going forward and is a great comfort to me. Thanks so much for everything.

Once out of the house and once out of the car with the engine running. Both when I was 20 or very early 20's.

So very true. The best approach I know of for the novice who for one reason or another decides to arm himself/herself, is to obtain and read carefully one of Massad Ayoob's excellent and informative books on self defense. One of his best, IMO:

All aspects of owning a gun for personal protection. If you read it, you will surely be amazed! Ayoob, BTW, served on the New Hampshire State Police, I believe it was, for years. As a boy, he was present in his father's store when an armed robber intruded. His father "took the guy out". Witnessing this did NOT wreck the boy psychologically for life, as some anti-gunners believe it would.

What is to keep you from obtaining another handgun, Bill?
