I think Meryl Streep is a superb actress. I just recently got around to seeing Out of Africa. It was a great movie. Does she have any connection to the Harvey Weinstein scandal?
@Shirley Martin I don't know if Meryl Streep has any connection. I heard on the news yesterday that Glenn Close had stated she had heard rumors. But no one can be convicted on just rumors and hear say. It's hard to know who knew what at this point. And I'm sure a total truth will never come out.
Loads of female actors are revealing their stories now... and coming out of the woodwork to report sexual abuse by not only heads of studios but also famous actors.... Today Joan Collins is telling her story about many of them including Richard Burton.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4979212/Why-lost-Cleopatra-Liz-Taylor.html
I imagine that if an actress gave in to his advances early in her career, thinking - perhaps truly - that this was something she needed to in order to make it in the industry, that's not something she's proud of, so I can fully understand that it can be difficult for them to come forward with it. There is also the idea that it could be dangerous to make accusations (even if true) against someone who has power within the industry. Harvey Weinstein no longer has that power.
Ken they had to get permeation before they can come forward like the news media and everyone else. Now for some reason they got permeation now everyone is speaking up.
Hollywood was founded on sexual harassment. Even back in the day of Walt Disney apparently he had an underground dungeon on the Disney network premises where they shot adult/teen pornographic movies. I also read somewhere that Disneyland in Pasadena had a history of missing children in the park who were lost from their parents. They were taken, abused and then returned distraught. Also lets not forget the old Hollywood casting couch. Sadly though all these pedophiles and sexual abusers get away with murder because they have friends in high places to cover their ass. It's also sad to say that these same friends of theirs are also deviates as well. And it covers every legal aspect of society like the police force, judicial system like judges, lawyers, supreme judges, doctors and politicians.
There is no such thing as rehabilitation for people like him. He will continue to abuse other people regardless of how many time he goes into rehab. Once a deviate always a deviate.
@Holly Saunders I had always heard that Burton was a drunken rake. But he surely could ACT. He did not "Ahsk it? AHSK IT? I COHMMAHND IT!" Frank
@Shirley Martin Gee, are you a real meanie? I've read that some folks have been known to enjoy catheters...... Frank
