I'm going to ask our Landlord to put up the natural looking fencing instead of the vinyl one as I think this will blend in much better with the Oak trees and greenery. And I really like the privacy panels for the porch instead of buying shades. Hopefully we will be blessed with some good neighbors but I'm sure they will enjoy a bit of privacy too with the fencing. We have very nice shades on our windows inside our home...and I have curtains up too. But I always opened the shades in the kitchen and livingroom areas during the day. Now I keep them half open instead. The workers who are helping to build the new Units are in and out pretty much on a daily basis and since they all are strangers to me...I'm not real comfortable with them being close enough to look in our windows when I'm here by myself. I think that has something to do with my mixed feelings about things too. We are blessed though, as the new Units may have a little extra room inside...but they have no real porch or patio...hopefully they will have some green space in the middle of the Units...but I don't think they will have much since the parking lot will probably take up most of the extra space. I don't think there will be alot of people with children moving in. But we will just have to wait and see.
yes that makes all the difference..we planted all of ours ourselves... I have a home in Spain and there the fauna and flora are very different due to the heat..much like California I suspect... We have orange, lemon and fig trees in our garden..along with dozens of Palm tree and aloe Vera and cactus plants growing beside my front porch I have an Oleander bush ...and Night scented Jasmine ( lady of the night)...I adore that smell... oooh I mustn't forget the masses of Bougainvillea all along the walls...
We actually have quite a bit of privacy, considering that we live in the middle of the city. The lot behind us had an old house at one time, but it has been torn down for many years now, and the lot is pretty overgrown with trees and shrubbery or some sort or another. The house to our left is a double lot, so the actual house faces the street behind us, and next to us is just the back of their lot, so also pretty private because they are seldom out there. On the right side of our house, there is another house, and there is a row of sassafras trees in between us and them. We are planning on getting oneof those plastic windscreens and putting it upon that side of the house along our side of the fence. If we get the 6 foot one and put it a foot off of the ground, then it would be 7 feet tall and will be very private. Once we do that, our back yard will be almost totally private, and there are roses and the sunchokes out in the front of the house by the road. No matter what we do, we will still have the sirens that are always seeming to be in this neighborhood from the ambulance and paramedics. This is how our back yard looks, except we no longer have the little swimming pool out there.
I liked the open but private area we had...now with the new Unit so close to us...I will like as much privacy as possible in as natural a setting as possible.
My back yard is very private but I never go out there anyway...too hot in the summer and rainy in the winter. I'm an inside person anyway...
I spend a lot of time indoors too but when I'm outside I sure don't want to feel that my neighbors are watching everything I do. So when I was looking at privacy screenings I came across this and thought this might be some good privacy to basically wrap around our whole front porch.
Well with the privacy fence..AND that wrap around @Babs Hunt I think you might end up feeling claustrophobic I'm the same as you I send a lot of time in my garden... out there every single day ... come and go all throughout the day , so privacy to me is a must
We have no fences but plenty of privacy. Our house sits in the middle of 25 acres. Our nearest neighbors are over 1/8 mile away with plenty of trees in between. The closest house to us is now vacant but I think it has been sold. Hoping for some good new neighbors.
@Babs Hunt , A friend of mine put some kind of screen wire around her porch. It lets them see through to the outside but other people can't see inside. I don't know where they got it but it's probably available at Lowe's.
