Where I used to work one of my resident's was always watching Dr Quinn Medicine Woman when I took him his bedtime meds. That was a pretty good show also. I don't think I get that channel though.
I loved Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. Another one that only lasted a couple of seasons, which I liked, was Christy, about a teacher in the Appalachians circa early 1900s.
Most of my favourites are already mentioned. Two others I liked watching.... the Ed Sullivan show and American Bandstand with Dick Clark.
Two shows that I enjoyed had to do with travel and lending a helping hand. 'Route 66' and 'Then Came Bronson'. Route 66 was the more famous of the two, but there was something about a disillusioned guy traveling around on a Harley-Davidson Sportster. It only aired for one season.
@Ann George Bandstand intrigued me almost daily. It came on after I got home from high school, in the afternoon. What intrigued me was the girls....... Frank
For some reason, that old television show with Sebastian Cabot came into my mind. I had to look it up to even see what it was called, which was “Family Affair”, and starred Brian Keith also. I didn’t watch it very often; but I do remember occasionally looking at it and thought that Cabot did a great job as Mr. French, the very proper (butler ?) who ended up practically raising those little kids. Here is a trailer from the first show.
Both of those kids on Family Affair (the actors who played them) had some significant problems later in life. The girl died of an overdose at about eighteen or so, and the boy had some big drug problems, but was able to get help with it.
Well he sure wasn't a fire and hell brimstone Preacher for sure. Actually what I like about the show is that it shows the Minister as a human being first and foremost. And his family are normal people too who make their share of mistakes and learn from them just like we all do. God isn't forced on anyone in this show but for the most part you can tell He is a natural part of this Family's life by the love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, etc. shown to each other and everyone else. Yet they argue, fight, get angry, etc. like all of us humans do and I think that's important to show too. I'm really glad this show is back on right now...as it is some good wholesomeness in a World I feel needs more of that so badly.
