You can still look on your own profile and see who is following you, @Shirley Martin , as well as who you are following. Since you do not need to go to someone else’s profile page to follow them, (just click on their avatar and choose follow when the little box opens up) you can still follow anyone you want to follow. I do not know why people block their profiles; but even when you are following someone, you can’t see their profile when it is blocked. The people who are here as “lurkers”, probably do not want anyone seeing their profile; but why someone who is a regular member here wants to block others from seeing it, makes no sense to me. Maybe some of those who have blocked profiles will explain the reason ?
Yours is not blocked now, @Chrissy Cross . I think that a person can look in your settings and see whether they have blocked it or not. I just checked my privacy settings, and mine are set to “members only”; so anyone here can see my information, but other people can’t see it.
@Yvonne Smith Me neither. Rather, if privacy is sought, supply only meager information, at least something indicative of being interested in participating. Frank @Holly Saunders (??) EDIT: "but why someone who is a regular member here wants to block others from seeing it, makes no sense to me."
I just looked at mine and I don't think I even filled out anything except date of birth. And that's nobody's business.
@Shirley Martin Ah, so, why're ya trying to keep things of interest hidden away from us other stalkers? I LOVE to know my lady friends' credentials! Helps me sidestep unintended consequences resulting from my fortuitous posts! (Come to think of it, WTH does "fortuitous" mean?).
And why on earth would anyone want to follow anyone? that just does not make sense to me, they ought to just get rid of the dear thing... to me I would feel like im being spied on.. just gives me the creeps to know someone Is following me,, im going to be dreaming about this tonight now..
The "follow" feature is simply for those who might especially appreciate what someone says, and wants to be alerted to any posts that they make. Otherwise, they will only be alerted to posts in threads that they have participated in. It's like following someone on Facebook or Twitter. There's nothing devious about it.
I don’t like it either ..I wish @Ken Anderson would delete that option ...or be able to delete a person who is following you at your request
Well I would never use the dear thing on anyone. those little blue binoculars still gives me the creeps..
I trust this forum much more than FB! I have about 8 or so people I follow on here. All that really means to me...theses are people who intrest me and that I want to read whatever they have had to say ...the most. Do not feel its like spying on anyone. Infact if anyone liked what I have to say...would consider it an honor to be followed...and hope those I do follow would feel the same.
I just like to use the like buttons. would be the same a following , in my eyes, anyway. I guess i'm one of the few who do not go to Facebook.
