@Holly Saunders now I am jealous. A 4 berth, 70 footer sounds wonderful. Helped a friend repair an engine on a 58 footer. Still have the pot he painted for us. And of course you know how much we like 'Rosie and Jim'...
Now Joan Jett is worth listening to. Baxter State Park, near us, does not allow radios or other noisy electronics.
Well, if others don’t like the music we’re playing and/or how loud, they can simply untie their boat and leave. A little “attitude” in that statement, but. Just looked at a picture of the kind of boat you and your husband have and only one word comes to my mind.....WOW!! Ours is a 1992 20 foot Cuddy Cabin with a rather large V-8 in it.
No there was no attitude in my statement Cody, it was just what I think...if we're moored up then people often play their music while they're relaxing on deck or doing some maintenance ( it's usually the latter) but but not loud enough to annoy people, but sailing along, it's kinda frowned upon... Yes I've often seen you talk about your boat, and thank you for the compliment about ours... I'll see if I can find some photos when I have more time..
Ha...yes so you know how much maintenance goes into it then Tim?... My husband fitted the engine himself in ours... in fact he designed the boat interior himself. She's an old girl now, but she's well looked after.. and she is hoisted into dry dock at the chandlers every few years to have her bottom cleaned and blacked... yes we have lot of Canal wear...I even have some in my house as well as the boat...It's so pretty.. I've even painted a few jugs and buckets myself...
Sorry, Holly, I meant my statement had “attitude” in it, not yours. Believe me, Holly, we do respect other boaters.
Hey @Gloria Mitchell , I’m not sure just how far you are from Houston, or how often you might make it to this city, but your more than welcome to come visit my old cabin. Although I can get downtown in twenty minute if there is no traffic rolleyes. I live in an unincorporated area just NE of and outside of the city. The neighborhood is very small, only about a two mile circle of homes setting on five to twenty acres plots each. So we still have a country setting. I have a 25’x10’ porch that I go out on. I listen to the wildlife wake up each morning, and I love to hear the the owls calling out their hoot hooting in the evening too. I was on the verge of inviting @Babs Hunt and her hubby to come for a visit when their family they had been visiting here up and moved back to Louisiana. The only boat I have now is an aluminum Jon boat, which I had loaned to my brother just before hurricane Harvey came to town. But we used to have a ski boat and a sailboat. While using the ski boat, if you wanted music, you had to play it at full volume just to be able to hear it. Now on the sail boat it was the opposite. So I can understand both sides of that issue. Manners apply to all situations. The problem comes with each person definition of manners I guess.
@Ina I. Wonder ...thank you for the invite. We are over 25o miles from Houston. My hubbys folks are in Beaumont...whats left of them. Sounds like ideal place for peace and quite
That is really nice of you Ina I. Wonder to have thought of inviting my Honey and me to visit you. My Son-in-law still goes to Houston once in awhile and the train still goes there too. If the invite to visit you is an open invitation...then one day you just may see me (my Honey won't want to leave his porch.) on your porch.
Ooooh I do hope you can make the trip to see Ina, @Babs Hunt ...I think you'll have a lovely visit, you are both such nice sweet people... you're bound to get along... I wish I could come too... but it would take more than a couple of buses to get there
Yeah...it would probably be fun to take a train to Houston and then call Uber to take me to Ina's home. That's about as much travel excitement as I can muster up right now.
Have already stated that my wife wasn't the "quiet" type and, when in the mood, I'm not either. Well, yesterday we were at a Vinyl (record), CD and Cassette Show. We were curious, so we stopped by. She bought a two CD set of hits by Jackie Wilson. She loves the guy and for an hour or so, all I heard was Jackie Wilson songs in our vehicle. One thing for sure, I'm not a big fan of that singer like she is.
How nice of you to listen to the music your wife likes to Cody. My Honey doesn't really care for Sonny and Cher but he listens when I play their CD that I love. When you love someone that's the kind of nice things you do.
