Old dogs can indeed learn new tricks but there are those times when this old dog doesn't appreciate the learning process.

The new IOS 11. whatever made a few changes to my IPad that I really didn't research well enough before I started re-using the dern thing after the update process was completed.

One of the changes included the virtual keyboard's space bar. Yup, the space bar.
Now, what could they possibly do to a space bar that would tick a person off? Simple: Take some young techies suggestion and divide the bar so that the space part occupies 2/3 of the key and a brand new "undo" button takes up the other 1/3 of the key.

Now, the aggravating part is that the *undo* thingy (tech word) doesn't appear all of the time but just when you do not want it there and think you are hitting the space bar, when suddenly the last sentence or so disappears.
Yes, I think Siri is finally getting back at me in terrible fashion in that she waits until I have produced a particularly good piece of wit or wisdom and suddenly, at the behest of a thumb going for the space bar, my content goes to the wit and wisdom file cabinet of the universe never to be retrieved by anyone but some galactic reprobate invented by Apple, namely Siri.

I have no proof of the conspiracy but just in case my theory is correct, I wrote this on the Dell computer loaded up with another pain in the tail, Windows 10.

I haven't updated yet but my daughter warned me just recently about the keyboard, forget what she was complaining about but said it took her awhile to undo the way it was.

Done the 11 update on our iPhones and haven't really had any problems. In fact, just done a 11.1 update on the phone and, so far, no problems. As for Windows 10, I love it. Even Excel and Word are different than they were before, but I've got use to the difference.

Now, to be remembered, I am the "techy" type person between wife and I.

Unfortunately, too many "updated" things can get us older folks upset and, to me, that's understandable, but..........

It might just apply to the IPad. When I bring up the keyboard the space bar is normal. It is just when I start getting into a sentence that the anomaly appears and just at a crucial time when I really do not wish to have an *undo* button attached to the space bar. Or, it could be just what I conceive to be the real truth: Siri has it out for me.

As far as windows goes, I have been using it since 3.1 and really believe that the best OS was '97 and '98. But, that is when 100 megs was a top of the line computer and doubtful that a gig would ever happen do to the heat factor. And in case the question ever comes up, I still love the old floppies.........! It makes it seem more technical when ya have boxes and boxes of floppy disks all over the place.

My daughter just mentioned it being on her iPad @Bobby Cole. Not a big deal but just have to find what to check or uncheck to get the keyboard the way you like it....if you like it the way the update changed it then you don't have to do anything.

I get used to something being a certain way and I don't like when they change it but if it can't be reversed I eventually get used to the new way.

Ive been getting prompts to update, maybe I'll do it today. :)

Yea, Bobby, guess that certain update doesn't go with iPhones.

I had to get use to Windows 10, but did it. I love Windows 10 Photo Software.

As far as floppy discs go, just like the old cassette tapes, the tape could get caught inside and then a real mess happened. As for me, I'll take USB Flash Drive anytime over a floppy disc.

@Cody Fousnaugh , I really don't think being tech savvy has to do with our age. If we're on the internet it becomes a necessity.

I live alone so I have to kind of know what I'm doing to a degree.

Will we ever agree on something?:D

But, there are things I know about computers, and my wife will vouch for this, that I am the "techy" type. Actually, I entirely set up our desktop with software and everything. A lot of times, people who live by themselves need some type of help from a business or family member, if they aren't the "techy" type.

I set my computer up when I got it. All you have to do is follow directions.

Desktop or iPad? I had to put in all of our software, at least the ones that Windows 10 would accept.

There are folks our age that just aren't that "techy", like us. And, some folks have an extremely hard time following directions. In fact, sometimes even me.

No neighbor or friend close enough that I'd feel comfortable asking. Not doing it ever again though since I don't even use it and iPads are easy.

My wife hadn't noticed it but yes, it is there. Apparently it was added for the benefit of one-handed typists. I'll bet there's an option to change that but since I don't have an iPad, I don't know what it will be. If my wife finds something, I'll let you know.
