That is awesome, @betty , and welcome to the forum ! Always good to have more “crafty people” here.
Many years ago, I had a little knitting machine that you set everything up on and then just slid it back and forth to make rows. It was supposed to make several different things, but I don’t remember ever learning to make much more than just the flat pieces. I think we moved and I lost some of the necessary little parts; so I never really learned how to use it properly.
Please tell us about yours, and how it works !

Welcome to the forum Betty..... I am the least 'crafty' person you'd ever meet. I can knit, and crochet but it bores me to tears tbh.... I'd love to be able to use a sewing machine just even for hemming, but much as I've tried over the years I just can't get the hang of them... Once the thread tangles in the spool or the needle breaks..I'm done.. just got no patience whatsoever

I looked up the Addi Turbo knitting machine, and it looks like a handy little gadget ! It reminds me of the old ones that used to work by hand with the little wooden spools.
For anyone who is curious, here is the picture that I found online.

    @Anna Peters
You sound far more well-rounded a person than your OP here would paint! We would love to learn more about you, or, perhaps I should not include all of us, but rather, I would love to learn more about you, and if nothing else, we will keep you occupied with endless questions about your homeland and past.

I very seriously considered emigrating to Australia as a young man, when the government was in such need of technical people, they were helping get them there. You said back home in Australia: is it still your home? IMO, folks here are far more likely to leave, seeking Australia as a new home, than vice-versa.

Oh, and WELCOME to the FORUM!

Hello @Anna Peters and @betty, I’m a crafty person too, but I’ve decided a break from everything is in order for me, and I’m told this can be a good thing as well. :p

Hi Frank, Ask away and I'll try to answer your questions as best I can. At the moment my husband and I are in Australia we came over to see whether he likes it here and whether he'd like to make it his home or not and so far he doesn't like it. He is used to the country and doesn't care much for city life or build up areas where there's too many people. So It looks like we'll be going back to the States and live our lives there.

This looks like a good place to put my Aussie joke. I'm sure @Kate Ellery will get a chuckle from it.

An American nurse goes to Australia to work. On her first day she goes into a patient's room and finds him packing his belongings. "I'm going home to die", he says. She checks his chart and says, "Not according to your chart."
"I'm going home to die," he insists.
    " Who told you that?"
    "My doctor."
"Well, it's not true! You are not going to die!"
"Yes, I am! I was supposed to go home yester-die, but instead. I'm going home to-die!"

    Bwahahahaha!

Well, I thought I misunderstood, but seem to have been mistaken...(this happens to me often).......I at first thought you were originally from another place "down under" other than Australia, but it seems you were not, you are equally welcome here in the states, rest assured! I would personally greatly enjoy visiting Australia as well as New Zealand, but at this point in my life such aspiration is a dream only.
