I never had a fondness for Charlton Heston's acting. Like John Wayne, his acting style was one of overacting, which was the style of the time, I suppose. John Wayne, at least, was in several shows that had plots that I enjoyed so I have watched most of his movies, but I can't think of a Charlton Heston movie that I liked.
Yup I agree @Ken Anderson , I never thought of Charlton heston as anything special as an actor..I couldn't name one of his films...but I can name several of JW's movies..although as you say he wasn't a great actor, but I think he had presence . I don't know whether JW would have become as famous as he did if he hadn't have been an actor during Cowboy & Indian style movie making era..
@Holly Saunders To me, the man seemed to always exude honesty, a trait lacking especially among actors, who rarely are representing their true selves. Frank
I wouldn't know tbh Frank I never was interested enough in him as an actor to make any personal views about him...
@Holly Saunders And you are obviously honest as the day is long........Now, given circumstances not controllable, I can only yearn to wish I knew more....that given knowing upon my introduction here, produced rather reluctant response from yourself, and here, now, I'm "talking out of my head" publicly......would you care to PM me? Having revealed your past to some extent, and I mine, why would you not? Frank
I did like Charlton Heston in the movie Will Penny. http://thegreatwesternmovies.com/2013/10/26/will-penny/
Well I'm sure I'll make a few enemies but aside from not liking Heston, I also didn't like John Wayne....in fact I liked Heston better than Wayne. Sorry......
I liked John Wayne...he always reminded me of my dad. Charlton Heston might have been a big star in his day...but he wasn't one of my favorites either.
Oh, my goodness ! After reading this, I might have to stop liking all of your posts, @Chrissy Cross . But ......(second chance) how do you like Yul Brynner, and James Stewart ? Or maybe Jeff Chandler and Audie Murphy ? Kevin Costner ? Any two will count in your favor.
I don't think I ever saw Charleston Heston in a movie. I agree with @Chrissy Cross . John Wayne couldn't act. He only had one tone of voice. Yul Bryner made my heart go pitty pitty pat. Jimmy Stewart was one of the best.
@Chrissy Cross You should not be sorry for expressing a feeling which goes against the "grain" of some others. In fact, you can be proud for doing so! Just sayin'! Frank
