Welcome Gaity, I'm a newbie too ... some interesting threads here altho' I haven't contributed much ( yet )
Started back in the sixties when the docks started closing...they now speak what is called Estuary English
errrrm... and Kent ...lol.........and don't forget us here in Herts we're only 10 miles north of London... they're all Mockneys around here lol which reminds me of this song...
@tom Galty Welcome! My wife anfd I have settled along the Colorado River 100 miles south of Las Vegas; there are 10 major resort hotels here in Laughlin, Nevada. I was wondering if you have ever been down here? It's a sort of "laid-back" atmosphere compared to Vegas, where I lived in the 1970s. There is a Facebook spinoff dedicated to Laughlin, entitled "Laughlin Buzz". You may want to look........ Frank
Thanks for the heads up but to many members. But enjoy your weather. I have Fox Five Will be back in LV in June when it hits 110
Looks great but do they play Poker???? Look at the FB page but too many members. Love your weather BUT at the moment we are having temps of 37 degs with rain
My weather in Fresno, Ca. Is very similar to Vegas. Love Vegas but haven't been in awhile. Even though it's only 395 miles from me...a 5 hr drive but Ive always flown. Today we are 75 and Vegas is 76.
@Tom Galty When my wife joined Laughlin Buzz, shortly after movijng here from Missouri in 2012, the Buzz has one or two hundred members; today I think several thousand. She has a member, who lives in London, who flies to Vegas several times a year, rents a car, and spends the time in Laughlin! Vegas is situated at altitude 2000 feet, we are 550, hence it is always a bit "cooler" in Vegas. When they have 110, we can expect 115-120! Today, 48` low this morning, predicted high 80`, humidity 12%, "feels like" 75` instead of 80. The Heat Index used in humdi climates works in reverse here, except for a short time during Summer, when we experience the annual Monsoon storm activity. Frank
