I remember reading, that the book has never been out of print. Thanks for the mention of Thomas Hardy.
This day, I pledge to sit, and begin to read my book! Quote:"I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book". (Groucho Marx)
ONE MONTH UPDATE: I have been reading Lorna Doone, and am on chapter 47 of 75. The chapters are short. It started out a little strange, but after four chapters, I pretty much got into the story. There is always a little suspense, as to what will happen to big John Ridd, each time he travels to visit Lorna. I am enjoying the book, and read it in small portions, in between projects.
The only Lorna Doone I ever knew, besides the cookies was this: I was too young to know what I was reading. All I remember is this cover and th name" Jeremy Stickles". Why that name, I'll never know. Who was he, anyway?
He was the King's messenger, "nothing more, than a poor apparitor of the worshipful Court of King's Bench".
UPDATE: This evening, I finished reading Lorna Doone. It was a different kind of read, but I enjoyed reading of John Ridd's life, and the world he lived in.
