I want to give my front doors' entrance an uplift. I thought to paint them would be the least expensive way to go. But my problem is do I paint the whole door (inside and out) or just the outside? It's a big heavy wooden door so I won't be dismantling it.

I'm tired of my hardwood floors. The previous owner had carpeting and when we removed it there were two colors of stain. ugh. I've area carpets but not big enough to hide the two tones. I'm thinking of relaying carpet.

Then my bathroom flooring is linoleum. I want to rip it out but the thought of what I might find underneath scares me so 3 or 4 boxes of floor tile should be enough to lay down.

    I love DIY projects:)

Depends Von whether you like the 'inside' of your door but you don't have to paint both sides
The floor tiles in the bathroom should be OK to do as you don't mind doing the work. Underneath the lino ........
may just need smoothing off if any bumps but if the lino looks flat, should be OK :)

At this moment I don't like the looks of the door. Paint would definitely bring it to life. Maybe a buttercream something not so loud, you know?

I don't mind laying floor tiles I did it in the kitchen. Once I get my music going I'm just groovin' along.:)

Depends about the door... does it look better in it's natural wooden state for outside?...perhaps you could rub it down and stain and varnish the colour you like...depending if you want to match your outdoor surroundings. As for the inside again...match to your surrounding..walls etc...or maybe paint it white if you have a dark hallway...

We always had a wooden door up until about 10 years ago, and we were fed up painting it every 5 years or so....so we installed a double glazed UPVC door instead...no upkeep needed ..yeaaah!!

As for your bathroom do you have wood floors underneath?..we installed underfloor heating and then laid tiled cushioned linoleum in both bathrooms...it looks really nice. I was a little bit doubtful at first because we have ceramic tiles in the kitchen and downstairs hallway and I thought it might look cheap but it looks like real tile ... altho' the cushion flooring was expensive... unlike the tiling my husband laid in the kitchen and hallway floors, we decided to get an expert in to do the bathrooms because we didn't want to waste any of the flooring by cutting it wrongly around the back of the toilet and sinks and bidet etc.. and he did a superb job. My husband fitted our bathroom out.., new plumbing , new power shower, all the tiling on the walls , but we left it to the expert for the flooring in the bathrooms ...

@Holly Saunders, it's been 18 years now actually this month. You've given me more to think about with the door. Maybe if I just get rid of the dullness that might do it. It's just boring, you know especially inside.

Our bathroom will be pretty easy to just lay the floor tile.

Our house has nice hardwood floors from 1910 when the house was built. But when we bought it, they were covered by from three to four layers of nasty carpeting and, beneath that, someone has painted the hardwood floors, and in one room it looks like they had painted around a large rug that had once been there. Fortunately, I was more ambitious then because I rented a floor stripper and completed most of the rooms before I put the rest of it off, never to be completed.

What?....did someone just throw carpet down on on top of the other @Ken Anderson ?..I've heard of people doing that with wallpaper, but Carpet?..wow!! How long have you been in the house and giving that excuse abut not finishing the floors lol.... ;):D:D

If you prefer the doors to be brightened up Von, there are some lovely options on white now
Pebble stone white and Putty are nice, depends on yer taste - could get a tester pot, or two :)

We want to redo our bathroom floors too @Von Jones but since we had a tub leak and maybe a toilet one too this past year...our Landlord has promised to redo the flooring since there is rotted wood under the linoleum. We are just waiting for warmer weather to come so he can do redo it.

I'm pretty sure he will let us have some input as to the new flooring and since my Honey's vision is getting worse I'm going to ask for something with nice contrast.

I thought the same thing after all the carpet was removed. Fortunately it was just the dining and living rooms but the floral carpet just had to go.

I'd probably paint the outside door one color and the inside another. Paint the llong edges of the door the same as the inside, but I know different strokes for different folks.

@Bill Boggs I am considering this option as well. I just have to find coordinating colors because I like to have my front door open when it's nice outside. Does that sound anal? lol

Not at all. I like my doors opened also. Of course you'd want all colors to blend. That open door could be a one nice contrast to the interior. But the over riding factor is, you are the one you have to please. Good luck.
