So true @Babs Hunt . As for me, I've been quieter this week. had some upsetting news this week which has kept me away from posting apart from a Good morning, here or there or the odd quick word game.. also yesterday I was out all day until night time, and then really was too tired to post much. Now this morning we've been out in the garden trying to sort out what's happening with leaky drains.....and I've got a few other things I have to do today as well..
Not sure if weather plays a big part in forum slow-downs or not. Just seems that this roller coaster ride we have been on of cold, then record heat, has me messed up. Add in the fact that I'm full time again at work, and just feel blah alot. I do read the posts everyday, but sometimes can't think of anything to add. I will add that this is the first forum I've been on where the majority, if not all of the posters, are as they apprear. ( I think. ) Might be the age thing where we just don't need to create drama, for drama's sake. Also the first forum where I don't really dislike any posters. Might not understand them at times, but no one seems to be a bully or troll. Y'alls a pretty good group!
Hope you get those smelly leaky drains fixed real soon Holly. Sorry to hear you have had some upsetting news and I hope you are okay now.
Thank you Babs.. you're so kind. Unfortunately the news brought some long lasting ramifications with it...but we'll weather the storm, and hope and pray for better things on the other side..
I like the phrase "everyone has a story" and I believe that to be true. I doubt your life is uninteresting. I know Ken and others have posted on how easy it is on the internet to have something taken out of context. Someone can't hear your tone or see facial expressions. Not always, but when I re-read my post before I save it, I try to consider if I am sending the right tone and may change something.
Me too, I've lost count already of replies I've written but not posted ... I tend to write as I speak which is rather straightforward and without the nuances and facial expression can easily be thought arrogant or unfeeling, of which I'm neither
yep exactly... and I have been picked up on this myself...but I've come to learn, unless you are being blatantly rude or disrespectful, it's not the way you write ..the onus is on the way people choose to read it. there's always someone willing to take offence, if people read a post, and they think it's offensive in any way, read it again in a different way..not the way they THINK it's been written but in a way that it could possibly have been written.. which could be completely opposite to the first thought and usually is. If not...ask for clarification before getting irritated and angry.. It's particularly important on an international forum like this one..because we all express ourselves in a different way. What an American might think is rude or offensive, an Englishman or Australian might not, and vice versa..
No offense, @Holly Saunders , but could that be what happened on the other board? Maybe he didn't mean to offend you.
No it was a downright offensive personal insult Shirley.. completely uncalled for and unwarranted.. so much so Admin removed it..
Yeah, it's been kind of quiet here; not scaringly so, though. I have been busy at work. Although work puts me behind the computer, I have been concentrating on writing category descriptions rather than adding sites, and that takes up more of my concentration so, while I am still popping into the forum a lot, and posting from time to time, I haven't been able to start a lot of new threads.
I saw that @Holly Saunders and had to read it a few times...it was really strange. Considering his age, maybe some dementia going on?? Ive noticed he's pretty rude lately in general.
I wondered that too..I did think no-one could be so rude unless there's some mental health issues going on... so perhaps you're right , but it was a disgraceful comment...and you're right I've noticed the argumentative comments to other posters but they've all been men so I just presumed there was some bad blood, but now after what he said to me, I have to think there's something more going on...
