Just found this site doing Google search for senior forums. I'm over sixty, retired herbalist, into internet exploring, martial arts, chi-kung, and so on. Moved here around twenty years ago from Kentucky.
Welcome Senex. I see you've made several posts. That's they way to do it, jump right in and get acquainted. I'm from Arkansas.
Welcome Senex... where are you in the world ?..and are you male or female?... A big welcome from London England...
Welcome to SeniorsOnly, @Senex ! I am sure that you will like it here, and we have other members from California, so you have “forum neighbors”, too. NorCal is short for Northern California, @Holly Saunders , to answer your question, but we will have to wait for more information on where in NorCal Senex is from. You might have noticed that we all have regular names here, Senex, and you will probably receive an email prompt explaining that for you. You do not have to use your real name, just a first/last name that could be a real name. You can change it on your profile by clicking on your name at the top of this page. There will be 2 columns, and the lower right one is for “name change”.
Hi there Senex - have you got a headache ? Senex sounds like a cure all tablet I know .......... cheeky - but there's no harm meant
@Senex Welcome! And yes, nosy as I am, just wonder where you relocated to from KY. I am very interested in your in-depth knowledge of the internet usage ins and outs! Frank
Lived awhile near Simpsonville, then Bowling Green, and lastly in Louisville before moving here (near Albany). Been exploring the internet at the library computers for around four years, and got my first home PC 3 or 4 months ago, so been hitting it hot and heavy with no time clock to deal with. Usually six hours a day, double that if I'm in the mood for TV shows/movies. Still cannot believe I wasted $80 a month on shoddy Comcast cable-TV for years, when I could of had a PC, and been watching free TV, plus surfing the net. Anyway, glad to help out on internet topics as I can.
When I joined it was late, and I was too tired to notice that this forum does not do usernames. Senex is Latin: http://www.latin-dictionary.net/definition/34666/senex-senis
Thanks for the welcome. I'm near Albany, and Ken Anderson was kind enough to walk me through the name change, so its been done.
so you're relatively new to computers generally..6 years in the library, and just a few months at home.. not long at all.. Most of us have been around home computers for 20 years or more..but of course, you're bound to be having a ball now having a computer at home..as you say with no time clock. if however you need any help we're here to offer it.. Now I have to say, given your choice of music on the music thread, I'm guessing that this type of music is not your cuppa tea... but because you said you once lived in Bowling Green...I hope you won't mind if I post this song...it's one of my favourites, and ever since first hearing it, I've been fascinated by the name..lol
Bowling Green is by far the the most pretty city I've seen in Kentucky, although nowhere near to the likes of Savannah...I'd wager it takes the prize as the most beautiful city in America. I only use XP Pro, so doubt many here have stuck with it. I'm slowly teaching myself Linux, plus fooling with KolibriOS and Icaros Desktop. I don't suppose anyone here is using the latter two? Also, don't count me out on Internet topics...most of my time over the years was spent exploring the net, so I may need hire a tech guy to set up my hardware, configure my router, etc., but I'm not shabby when it comes to researching topics.
