I got the pneumonia shot several years ago. Lately they've been advertising a new pneumonia shot (PREVNAR 13) that protects against additional strains. I asked my doctor about it and he said it could help and it can't hurt so I got it Saturday. Medicare paid for it.
I never get the flu shots, and very rarely even get a cold, let along the flu. I think that having a good immune system has always helped a lot with that part; but now, I also take iodine each day for the thyroid and other hormone benefits that it has. Not only is it one of the best antibiotics you can take, it is also anti-viral, and anti-bacterial; plus it is supposed to help ward off cancer growing in your cells, and especially around the thyroid, or other glands that produce hormones. Anytime that I think that I might be going to catch a cold, I start beefing up on the amount of vitamin C that I take, put some peroxide in my ears (they say most infections start in the ear), and make sure that I do not eat anything with sugar , which is what most of those nasty flu-bugs feed on. Here is a list of all of the beneficial uses for iodine to help in the "cold and flu season". http://www.curezone.org/blogs/fm.asp?i=1413057
Got flu and pneumonia shot last Friday. Last winter I stayed away from people as much as possible and never even got a cold.
I got my flu shot 2 weeks ago.. I have taken the flu shot for the past 20 years if not more.. NEVER had the flu and I don't want to either.. Considering it costs nothing, why not protect yourself.. I had absolutely NO reaction at all and never had..
Pretty much my feelings also. Got my flu shot when they first became available this season. I get the "double dose" due to being over 65. Rarely ill and, knock on wood, haven't had a bout of flu in over a decade. Firm believer in flu shots.
We get ours every year at a drive-thru clinic. Cost? Nuthin'! Never got the influenza since having the inoculation administered. Hal & Judy
There would be no cost to me either, but I choose not to. I might get shingles shot. I'm not opposed to vaccines - just to the ones that don't make sense to me. As often as not, the variant of the flu that they vaccinate for is not the one that comes around, because they're about as good at making that predication as they are about predicting the weather. As far as I am aware, I have had the flu twice - once as a reaction to the only flu vaccination that I have gotten, and once when I wasn't vaccinated. Maybe a third time as a child, but I'm not sure.
A vaccine could only be trusted if the manufactures were held responsible for any damages that the vaccine dose. The law protect them from direct prosecution for damages done by their product.
Well, I had a Meet and Greet with my new doctor today and was asked if I wanted a flu shot. So I got it. After 15 to 20 minutes to get there I wanted to leave with something besides his thoughts of my continued well being. A sore arm will suffice.
Still a bit too early for the shot up here.. The clinic hasn't received it yet, however, as soon as it is available, for sure we will be there for the protection..
It's ironic that you should mention that they didn't have the flu vaccine yet neither did the VA for my husband was going to get the flu shot as well. He was told of locations where he could get it if he wanted sooner than two weeks. I thought to myself, 'Why wouldn't the VA have the vaccine now? Pharmacies and clinics have it.'
I stupidly get the vaccine every year and 4 out of 5 seasons I still get sick. I will stupidly keep getting them and hope for the best. Matter of fact the Drs. office called yesterday about a vaccine clinic Saturday morning.
