Next to your Avatar and screen name in the upper right hand corner is an envelope...click on that and you can start a personal conversation with other members.
Yeah, as Bab's said, they are called "Conversations." Only those who are invited can read them. As the administrator, I can't read them unless I am invited.
@Ken Anderson Given I've been here awhile now, I fail to understand your reference above. Only the invited? Means what? Forgive my internet stupidity, this may be my chance to become further encumbered! Frank
Using the Conversations feature of the forum, as opposed to Forum Posts or Profile Posts, you can invite one or more members to participate in your Conversation. No one else can see it.
@Ken Anderson Can you explain, please, HOW you were able to respond to my PM to Eric BEFORE I posted it? This may be one of those rare cases of "question validity". If I have emplaced the "hotseat", well, one might have expected it from ilk like me.
I didn't. I wouldn't even be able to see it until you posted it. I replied 4 minutes after you posted it.
Click on the member profile, which you will find to the left of their posts. A box will pop up. Choose "Start a Conversation." The only people who will be able to read or participate in the conversation will be those who are invited. So, as long as neither you or the member you are having a conversation with invites someone else into the conversation, it will be private. There is an app that allows the forum administrator to read conversations but I have neither purchased or installed that app, nor do I intend to.
There's NO "Member Profile" to the left of the member's post. NO Box pops up, NO "Start a Conversation" appears. That's three NO's I see, Ken. Hal
I think Ken means the user name and avatar you can see on the left. Just click on the user name in bold print and the box will pop up.
