Hi there. I'd been looking for a place to talk to people of my generation, then came across SENIORSonly CLUB with the stress on "only" and assessed as "civilized", and liked what I read. So just thought I should give it a try and signed up. I'd be glad if I could make a contribution here. Looking forward to reading about other people's views, sharing ideas and to exchanging opinions about various subjects of interest - if I can possibly manage of course. ;-) About myself: I'm male, just turned 63 and, finally, retired just a month ago. I do (basic) gardening, cycling, reading. I walk my dachshund Sari, try to keep fit a bit and do hope that I can enjoy my (well-deserved, as they say) retirement. I'm interested in current affairs, communication, history, culture, computer, sports, just to name a few. Best regards, Thomas
Hi Thomas and welcome So pleased you have joined us, I see you have a Dachshund, Sari - our Chrissy Cross also has that breed Pickles is his name
Welcome Thomas.. where in the world are you situated? We're mostly in the US, UK, and Canada on here... ( I'm in London) You're in good company with regards dogs...many of us on here have them ( I have 7 grandfurkids whom I adore) ....sssssshhhhhh don't tell our Cat loving Admin tho' will you... ? ...we may be small but I'm sure you'll find plenty of good company.. Do give a shout out if you get stuck with anything..
Welcome, @Thomas Stearn ! We are being out-numbered by the “cat people” on this forum; so you and Sari and the bicycle are most welcome here.
Hello @Thomas Stearn ...from the big state of Texas....you will like it here. Very generous, and kind folk are in here.
Good morning everyone and many thanks to those writing in this thread for the warm welcome. I hear it's the usual "divide" between dog lovers and cat lovers. ggg Well, when it comes to pets, you have to make a decision at some point... It's just Sari, though, which "is not good with cats" ggg. I like them, too, although a cat might sit on your desk while Sari always curls under mine. gg @Holly Saunders, don't worry, my lips are sealed. ;-) @Chrissy Cross, Sari greets Pickles back. @Yvonne Smith, special thanks for welcoming the bike ggg and for the photo. It's a bit different, though, and looks like this when we are on tour: Each time I get out the bike, is drives Sari into a frenzy of excitement, happily screaming, toing and froing. It'll be only after a while that she calms down and keeps gazing and being amazed at the world rolling past which she will never (fully) understand. @Tim Burr, you like my bike. Just fancy! It's collapsible, it has to be so that I can always take it with me when we go on tour. You tend to see so much more on a bike where ever you are, don't you? I simply can't do without it. Holly you were asking about my whereabouts. Before I tell you, would you mind making an educated guess even it'll be a long shot? I'm asking because you were saying that the people in this forum are mostly from the US, UK and Canada. Would you locate me elsewhere? Have a nice day.
Edit: ...it drives.... ...even if it..... ...wherever.... Sorry about that. I should really proofread my stuff from time to time....and I'm all thumbs when typing on my smartphone.
oh we're all used to making mistakes here...especially me, my fingers work faster than my brain. Question...what does the ggg mean that you've written several times?
