That's a good way of putting - raccoons are like weird cats.

Urban raccoons, who have had some contact with people, although having never been pets, aren't particularly afraid of people. Some of them, anyhow. From time to time, we have raccoons come to the second-story bowl, where we feed squirrels and birds, at night. I chase them away because they eat more than I can afford, and they often upturn the bowl when they are done. But some of the raccoons that come around will look at me as if confused as to why I would chase him away. He stops and looks at me, as if imploring me to just let him eat. I think I could reach out and touch him. No, I don't think he's rabid; it's just that some of them just think there's no reason why they shouldn't be there.

I trapped a couple of them a few years ago in a live trap. One of them, a younger one, was so wild that I was afraid it would turn on my when I let him out of the cage a few miles from here. The other, older one, I think I could have petted him if I had wanted to. He just calmly walked out of the cage.

Hey Fresno...that was a great video of the Weird 'Coons, and I liked that jazzy sound track too!

I would like to have one, just because of their extroverted, hyper personality, but we have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds and 5 Desert Tortoises.

Maybe I could lease one for a couple weeks, just to see if it would be compatible with our pets.

We have representatives of the Canine, Feline, Avian, and Reptilian species.

It's obvious but I already live with two wildcats disguised as domesticated house cats. The calico not so much but my tabby stalks around and is still so lively at 7. I call her my "wild tigress"

In some ways, cats have never been perfectly domesticated.

I was watching a documentary years ago about cats. I think the narrator was British and he stated "make no mistake, you are letting a wild animal into your home" Works for me! The documentary wasn't cat negative. It was about the history of the "domesticated" cat.

    I would choose a mouse.
    I would name him Mortimer.

I would get him a little mouse swing to swing on.

I would teach him to play the saxophone.

    And to sing.

    And dance

And let him go for an elephant ride with Mia.

We would have fun if I had a mouse.

Whenever I take her to PetCo, my cat asks me to get her a mouse. I think she'd settle for a parakeet, though.

Bringing a Wild Animal into our household is out of the question!

I have just read California's laws concerning ownership of Raccoons, Owls, and other wild creatures.

    Case Closed...ruling for the Plaintiff.

    One moment, Shirley Martin:

Your Mouse on the Swing has 4 toes on its hind feet, but your Mouse playing the Saxophone has 5 toes!

Are these real mice or toys?
