Well I don't really think you would consider "Pure Country", "Dirty Dancing", "A Star is Born", "Urban Cowboy", "The Way We Were" or "The BodyGuard" musicals...but these Movies would not have been the hits they were without the music for sure. :)

West side story was one I performed in at School..it was a huge production for a school ... I was in the orchestra playing Cello :D

One musical I really disliked which everybody else seemed to love was Dirty Dancing...just didn't enjoy it t all.

When I was a teen one of the first LP's I owned was that of Jesus Christ Superstar

Wouldn't consider the Beatles movies as 'musicals' - more like music on the run, watched 'one' for 10 minutes

I think I liked that one more because I liked Patrick Swayze. :)

For the record, I didn't like most of the ones mentioned here, including West Side Story.

I have all the Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals, which began first on Broadway, then were made for the Screen.

The only musical that was initially made as a movie was South Pacific.

    I have:

    Oklahoma
    South Pacific
    Carousel
    The King and I
    The Sound of Music
    Flower Drum Song
    State Fair
and Showboat, which was by Jerome Kern, not R&H. (This has the immortal "Old Man River")
