I have jury duty June 18th. I originally had it December 18 but postponed it. I don't want to do it though.

    Many reasons....

Central Fresno is the pits and I would be anxious driving there.

The parking lot is far from the courthouse and you have to take a shuttle so you really have to leave the house early.

I can't sit for too long, I need to change positions a lot because of my back.

Ive never left Pickles at home alone all day.

    My weird eating habits...

Anyway, how can I get out of it besides a drs excuse which I'm not sure would happen.

I don't know Chrissy, I sat trials twice when I lived in Ca. One of them was five months long and even the lawyers for the company I worked for couldn't get me excused. I'm sure it's changed quite a bit but I think a medical is the only way out as it wouldn't involve an income exemption.

What will I do with my dog? The longest he's been alone at home is about 2 hrs when Ive had an MRI or something.

If you have a documented back issue, try to get a medical statement stating that you shouldn't sit for long periods of time. The judge may excuse you on that basis. Answer any questions in the jury selection honestly but stating clearly any prejudices you may have, such as sympathy for the accused, against long punishments for criminals, or against the death penalty. Keep in mind, however, that someone has to do it, and if you get out of it, someone less intelligent or more biased may get selected.

I have no advice on what to do with your dog. We have "practiced" our dog to be able to stay alone. Many times we are in situations where we are unable to take our pet along for long periods.

That should work but you have to get the statement from the doc

He won't go for that...I'd be better off leaving him at home.

I was called for jury duty several times when I lived in Texas but was never chosen for a jury. I have never been summoned for jury duty in Maine.

Ive been called in Fresno a few times, last time I didn't have to serve. Here you call in every night and see if you have to report the next day, this lasts a week, unless you're picked for a jury.

After a week you did your time.

I got a summons two yrs ago but I just threw it in the garbage but I was afraid to do that again ...maybe I should have...they can't prove I got it.

It use to be if you were sent for questioning in a case if they didn't pick you you were released and were done. Last time I got called if you didn't get picked you went back to the jury room, that could go on for ten days til they let you go.

In Texas, when called for jury duty, you would spend the better part of a day there, forming part of the jury pool, as they chose jurors for however many cases they had that day, but if you weren't chosen for a jury that day, you were excused.

I was called once in Illinois and that's the way it was there, you went and waited. Fresno has a different system.

I just got a jury summons last week in the mail for my ex who lives in Ohio and hasn't lived here in 9 yrs...I threw that away.
