I think the question should have been: "How many gender identities are there?" At birth you are born either male or female...barring abnormalities which would still fall within the male and/or female genders. Now that some people have decided to "rebirth" theirselves...they may choose it seems any gender identity they can invent...and then change that anytime they feel like it too. Maybe I will decide to be my Honey tomorrow and he can be me. :

Regardless of what behavior some animals exhibit, they all will mate with the opposite sex of their species, which is not true with homosexual humans, who only want to have sex with the same gender. Animals use what we consider to be sexual behavior for other different reasons than to mate with each other. It is often a show of dominance between two animals . Dogs (even puppies) as an example, will climb on each other, and simulate mating, when all they are doing is showing dominance to the other dog. Some animals will try to mate with anything during the mating season. I remember going to a livestock auction, and they ran about 20 billygoats into the arena. Each one of those goats jumped on the nearest goat and tried to mate, until finally there was a whole circle of goats going around the arena on their hind legs and their front legs over the back of the goat in front of them. Were these 20 goats all gay ? Of course not ! It was fall, and was breeding season for goats, and they just wanted to be mating another goat. My llama used to try and mate with my horse when she was in heat. He was not a llama that wanted horses to mate with, he just was able to smell her scent when she was in heat. So, even though some animals do exhibit mating behavior with other animals , it is only a natural part of their behavior, and given the opportunity, the male and female of the species will always mate with each other.
As someone who has raised livestock, I know this to be true. The drive of the male to mate is almost overwhelming in livestock and wildlife...and humans too sometimes. The Gay lobby often portrays this dominance behavior as homosexuality, but it is simply the same thing that makes a dog "hump your leg". The rut is also what most hunters rely upon, as males in rut will aggressively walk into situations they would never approach during the rest of the year. They become reckless.

Old fashioned here and agree Hal, genders--- I know a man that has a sign business we used to buy from him at times he only sold 2 gender signs, still does. Other than a baby changing room I have never seen more than the 2 he sells displayed. A mirror might should come with a birth cert. Or a picture book.
IMO there are only two genders. I believe that some people are born gay and sexual preference has nothing to do with gender identification. I believe that a small number of people may be born with some sort of legitimate gender identity problem that should be accepted and addressed if possible. I also believe that the vast majority of gender identity problems that we read about today are the result of junk science. I also believe that God had a hand in making us all and no matter what our personal feelings may be we should accept people as we find them and treat them with respect.
This probably won't help this discussion as my views on gender are pretty unique. In previous posts I have presented the view that gender has nothing to do with sex. That is, while there are two sexes. gender is an expression of masculine or feminine qualities, and that everyone expresses themselves in masculine or feminine terms throughout their daily lives. Gender to me is Yin and Yang, not Man or Woman.
