I have overstepped in this conversation. I apologize to you Ms Hunt. Having done so I'm going to put myself on leave for a short while.
Prophesy ??? Well that has a religious connection and which is hard for people who are non religious to believe. Could it have been a guess well let’s look at it Trump to be president 2007 that was ridicules as he was not interested at that time and all people who were so called experts were saying even to the last minute of the election he would not be president. That is a big leap for anyone to guess. Then Kim Clement said in 2014 that not only Trump would be president but they would be calling for impeachment when he had not even been elected at that time. Was it a lucky guess or did he get that information from somewhere else. That is for you to decide. His predictions were so wild and ridicules and having them come true make you wonder.
As you wish @Bill Boggs. But I don't feel you have overstepped nor do you owe me an apology for stating your opinions. We all are entitled to our beliefs and opinions...and I certainly respect yours Bill and everyone else's. So please don't leave for a short while unless you just feel like taking a break.
Do you remember a woman named Jean Dixon @Martin Alonzo. I don't think she would have been considered a religious woman and yet many of the things she predicted which would be considered prophecy came true. There are many others to who were not considered religious people whose predictions often came true but right now she is the only who comes to my mind. I just thought of George Orwell in his book 1984. In that book were things that have certainly come true too.
In my post it said that is for you to decide. I have no idea where this insight comes from only saying it is special. !984 was not put out as prophesy but more like an instruction book for sick governments.
I was going back over some of Kim Clement's Prophecies the other day on the youtube videos and I really liked it when I heard him say that the Lord says He was not going to allow a Witch and a Jezebel in the White House. Now's that telling it like it is about Hillary Clinton to me.
A child of God can be given a prophetic word for someone or about something without being a Prophet. The Bible speaks of Prophecy being a gift that God wants to give His children...so they can ask for it. Here's a Prophetic Message that I was given by God on September 26, 2005 for the Katrina and Rita survivors that were displaced from their homes and brought to other cities and States. I, the Lord, give this message to My children who have been displaced from their homes because of Hurricane Katrina and Rita. Hear My Spirit as it speaks to each one of you, for I have ordained this displacement for many of you so that I could take you out of the poverty and oppression you were under and bring you out to the promised land that I have prepared for all those who are called by My name. As you go forth into your promised lands it is My desire that you become rooted in the place I plant you. It is My desire that you take the jobs I will bring your way and establish homes for your families. For in this promised land that I have planted you in, you will find your futures and your children's futures. Here you will multiply and prosper as you seek first the Kingdom and worship and serve Me. Work for the peace and prosperity of the cities I plant you in. Lift up your voices in prayer to Me for the cities which are now your home land, for if you pray for peace for your cities...you also will have peace. When you are feeling lonely and afraid for all you have lost or left behind, I want you to remember that I know the plans I have for you, they are plans for good and not for disaster, they are plans to give you a future and a hope. Look for Me in earnest in your times of sadness and you will find Me. And when you pray, know that I will listen, for I am your God and today I am bringing My beloved children out of oppression and poverty...and into their promised lands of milk and honey. In His Name, Babs
But don’t you think s/he would be recognizable by her/his words and actions? (Not to mention that the prophecies would either come to pass or not)? I have met one person in my life who I believe is a prophet. She ran the jail ministry I had the honor of participating in in North Carolina. I knew right away when I met her that she was ”different.” Her testimony, her lifestyle, her obvious connection with God and His word all pointed to it. And — I know this probably sounds crazy — I physically felt it inside my chest (some might say “heart”) when I first talked to her. Not infrequently, we would be ministering to the ladies in that jail, and she would stop, mid-sentence, and just pin someone’s life or thoughts. The first time I saw her do this, we were studying John 8, specifically 8:32, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” She looked at a woman who had arrived within the last few days. We had never seen her before. I could see that she wanted hope, or maybe just a way to escape, figuratively speaking, but she wasn’t connecting. The chaplain said to the woman, “I’m sorry. I have to tell you this. Last night, you were on the phone and you were thinking you’re crazy, The spirit is telling me that you’re not crazy. You’re fighting against something — and He says you know what that is — in your head. Stop fighting. You know what’s right. Go with that and stop fighting.” The woman had begun weeping when the chaplain started talking. Now she was crying and looking a little scared. The chaplain went back to the study, though visually checking with the woman at the same time. After the study, we would have coffee and one bakery product or another. The girl ended up telling me that she had no idea how the chaplain could know what was going on in her head, but she was right. I remember just about every word from that incident, because it was the first one I’d ever witnessed. There were plenty more, Anyway, the chaplain did this sort of thing fairly frequently. She told me that it had been happening to her since right after she accepted Christ, or maybe before, but she didn’t recognize it until her acceptance. I wished at that time that I had such a gift, but she assured me I did not want it, and to be happy with the one I have.
Well, I guess you could say “he was not interested at the time” if you could overlook his candidacy in 2000 with the Reform Party. You might recall — or maybe you won’t — that he dropped out of the race and left the party after David Duke —and others he called more KKK members — joined it. Don’t feel bad. Wikipedia forgot about that chapter of Trump’s life — or more accurately, deleted it — as did all of those who kept denigrating Trump because he “refuses to disavow David Duke” some 16 years later. But I digress. From whence could Kim Clement’s repeated prophecies about Trump have come? I never much liked Kim, but I did watch him from time to time, but I don’t think they were lucky guesses. Perhaps he could have guessed another presidential run, but “Impeach! Impeach!”? Many of us watching this play out today couldn’t believe it was happening as it was. So, if nothing else makes sense, I’d say it would have to be God.
I consider her to be a devout Catholic, as she did herself. She went to mass at least twice a week, taking Communion each time. I think that those who only knew about that much about her would have considered her exactly that: a religious woman. She regularly said that hers was “a gift from God.” Though I try not to judge such things, as there is Someone Else in charge of that department, I have to say that she probably was a religious woman.
A different kind of prophet, and nothing to do with President Trump, but a question for you, @Michelle Anderson . What do you think about Edgar Cayce, known as “the Sleeping Prophet”, and who seemingly was able to accurately prescribe medical treatment while in one of his trances. He likewise proclaimed to be a Christian, although he also believed in reincarnation, and felt it suggested that in the Bible . I have not read all of his prophesies, but it seems like some were right , and some not, or were misinterpreted. However, there must have been some kind of a gift there, because he seems to be helping people with the medical recommendations.
No @Michelle Anderson, it isn't in the least crazy at all ! As is indicated in 1st Cor. 2:11 and several other New Testament renderings, the spirit does indeed know the spirit. The same *Spirit of God* who dwells in others is also known by that same spirit who dwells in you. It isn't that you know, but He who is in you. The Spirit is in you, you are in Christ. There isn't a better seat in the house no matter what the gifts are!
I believe in prophecy because I believe in the truths of the Bible, and prophecy was a part of it. I don't accept that these gifts were intended to end with the apostles. At the same time, I am uncomfortable with people speaking in tongues and generally believe that they are making a spectacle of themselves in order to elevate their own esteem, and I most often distrust those who claim to be prophets. I see no reason to believe that there are no prophets among us today but, at the same time, I think that most of them are phony.
