Lurkers don't do any harm, but neither do they contribute to the forum, and they are cheating themselves out of the best part of a discussion forum, which is actually taking part in the discussion. If you want to watch for a while before joining in, you're welcome to do that, but please don't be afraid to join in on any discussion here, or to start one of your own.
We have had several new members lately, and that's exciting. Even better is that many of them are participating in forum discussions. Others haven't posted yet so, to you, I would like to encourage you to find a topic that you're interested in and reply to it, or start a thread of your own. It is a lot more fun when everyone is participating.
It costs nothing here to "build up the business". And, that may even make things more interesting. Frank
If memory serves me, way back in time when there was a school dance, so many people just stood along the wall and watched whilst the others danced and had some fun. My goodness, some of them even (gasp) slow danced and actually touched each other! The point is, a few of the guys who stood on the side wanted to ask some girl to dance but didn't, and a few of the girls stood around wanting some red faced guy to ask but alas, there were none. I called them the "wishers" because at the end of the night I honestly believe they really wished that things had gone differently and they wished they had actually participated......at a function that was meant for them and their enjoyment. Not everyone here even comes close to Fred Astaire or Ginger Rogers but, we all like to "dance" even if we stumble around at times when we are not at all familiar with the music or those dancing to it. And, just as a booster, the floor isn't slippery at all and even if you do hit a spot that has a little wax on it, there's always someone around who will help you regain your balance and even dance with you for a spell. Slowly of course until you're ready to show off a few steps of your own. It's a win / win but you will never know what kind of relationships can be built, until you get on the floor and Dance.......................
Hey @Betty Jones ! I don't believe I've welcomed you to the forum yet, so welcome to our neighborhood! Tell me, how was your day today?
As I mentioned in another thread, we have had a lot of new registrations lately but a lot of our new members aren't participating in forum discussions. If you'd rather lurk, that's fine. It's not doing any harm, but it's a lot more fun if you participate and, by doing so, you contribute to the forum and make things more interesting for all of us.
