A friend of mine suggested I join here. I am originally from MS but moved to GA about 38 years ago. I love the North GA mountains. I am a retired bookkeeper for a general commercial contractor for almost 38 years. I love to keep active with various home projects. Can't wait to meet you all!
@Pam Sellers Well, I missed your OP here and yelled "welcome" in the car lease thread. So, welcome once again! Frank
Welcome to the forum, Pam. It looks difficult at first but is quite easy. I go by "recent posts" and then don't miss anything.
Welcome Pam Both my parents and I were born in GA, and now I'm living in Nashville. , I agree that Northern Georgia mountains are great. Most people who hike the whole Appalachian Trail, start at Springer Mountain in Georgia. They end up near where Ken lives, after doing the evil '100 mile wilderness ' in Maine... Miss my boiled peanuts. All we have here are RC's and MoonPies!
I tried those things.......one time ! Boiled peanuts are horrible, and I don’t know how people eat them. Yes, I know......it is my Idaho side showing.....and I really am trying with this Southern food; but some of it is never going to make it into my favorite cuisine list. Crawdads are another food I don’t eat, and I like my dill pickles cold on my hamburger, and not battered and fried. I do like okra though, fried or otherwise. I even like it in spaghetti. (Pretty sure that is not a southern custom though ) And fish and chips made with catfish are just not even close to what you can get on the Wharf at Seattle, on the waterfront, or even at a Skippers Fish and Chips, for that matter.
