Here are some old ads that some of you might remember, or not. Most of them would be considered inappropriate, by today's standards.

Beer was prescribed to pregnant women for years and didn't seem to affect anyone adversely, especially Guinness, as low-alcohol, high nutrition concoction. I think La Leche League still tells women to have a beer while nursing, especially if they are having difficulty producing adequate milk. It relaxes anxious mothers and seems to increase milk production. I don't think doctors every recommend it any more, as too many people think, "If one beer is good, six will be better."
