Since I've been a member of this forum, I've rarely ever had to sign in.. I have the ''remember me '' box ticked, so it automatically signs me in when I open this forum. since 2 days ago just after my computer rebooted after a power cut..I have had to sign in every time I visit the forum, even though I continue to check the ''remember me'' box . It's not happening on any other forum or website I visit regularly...just this one.. anyone any ideas why this is happening and how to remedy it again..
Just a thought but not necessarily a good one: When you log in, check the “stay logged in” box under the password box before you hit “log in”. Checking the “remember me on this site” flag that appears when you hit the enter or log in button doesn’t always put the cheese on the cheeseburger.
Well unfortunately that didn't work ... I'm still having to sign in every time. If I leave the forum after signing in (and clicking the remember me button)... it signs me out after a short time... no idea how to remedy this..
So sorry Holly. Other than the *stay logged in* preference, the only other things would be if you accidentally logged out or possibly something to do with the clear web history option but that would affect all of your password protected web sites. I do hope it gets figured out because having to log into the forum every time can be a pain. @Ken Anderson might have other thoughts. I do pray your day goes much better though!
@Holly Saunders I had this problem awhile ago when an unexpected outage occured. It took me a couple of days to figure out how to stay logged in. I don't know which one actually worked though. Try clicking on the exclamation point located in the address line and check out the site information. I think it has to do with the 'site information.'
Thanks for that @Von Jones , I followed your instructions, but it just keeps telling me my connection on this site is not secure and passwords could be compromised ... I scrawled through all the info, and I can't see anywhere, where it says I can ensure I stay logged in.. .thanks for your help tho'...
I have this problem but I'm on my iPad when I do. I don't have SOC in favorites but have it added to my home screen. When Ive been logged out and log back in I get booted too if I go thru the same old saved icon. I have to log in and then save that to my home screen. Even then sometimes it looks like I'm logged out but once I click on something like recent posts...I'm okay.
@Holly Saunders, question for you. Do or did you save your User ID and password when prompted? You can try to reset with a new password and save it that way.
Yes I did save it Von... then I tried @Bobby Cole 's suggestion, that didn't work either.... however.....After messing around with the ''i'' as you instructed , and just clicking and un-clicking stuff randomly because there was nothing obvious.., it now seems to be staying on..although the colour has changed , but I can change that back.. so thanks, whatever it was must have been fixed due to your suggestion..
I observed that everything finally worked out well for you but then you wrote that the color had changed. It could be that messing around too much put you in direct contact with aliens from another planet who are allergic to anything but the default settings. Good thing for you that all the old members here possess the secret alien detector ring that Ken handed out.
@Holly Saunders, I didn't mean to ignore you but I don't think it's a problem with the forum setup since nothing has changed here. It probably has something to do with your Windows security configuration but I haven't used Windows since 2011 and don't know very much about it anymore. On a Mac, there are times when I have to re-enter all of my usernames and passwords but those are usually after I have done a security update of the Mac OS. Here, I just click the thing where it asks about staying logged in and that fixes it. Sometimes I have to do that a few times, I don't know why.
I had an idea Ken, that it was something to do with my computer , because it didn't happen until directly after the power cut caused by the storm the other day, but I just couldn't figure out why it had happened or how to fix it. I don't run windows I have a Mac ..but for 2 days I've just not seemed to be able to get it to keep me logged in, just this site, no other... but anyway touch wood, after @Von Jones help it seems to be working again.. many thanks to @Bobby Cole too
