Hehe, if you would've shown me this picture when I was younger, I would've agreed. However, now that I am old and grumpy, I don't really get people complaining about stuff such as Maths. It seems pretty logical to me now.

Love the meme. I have no idea, what is the common core?

It's the curriculum that's being taught in public schools. The math is so twisted and convoluted that parents (and kids) don't have a clue as to how to do it! I wonder if it's not deliberate. Conservatives have been trying to get rid of it: Liberals want to keep it.

A couple of things that are involved in Common Core, in my view, are 1) the desire to take parents out of the equation since few parents will be able to help their children with Common Core homework; and 2) create a situation in a child's mind where the obvious answer is not always correct, making them more subject to propaganda.

Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows. -- George Orwell (1984)

I don't care about maths any longer because I came to the conclusion that maths are already old enough to resolve problems themselves, same as Planet Earth is old enough to claim for nannies that care for it!... hahaha

Comment not suitable for grumpy dudes, I know ;)

I don't really know how the situation in the USA is anymore, but here in Romania, the curriculum (at least in the Maths area) is pretty straightforward. I have recently volunteered to supervise and help poor children do their homework at a charitable daycare, and it seems that kids nowadays don't have any problems with Maths. At least most of them. :)

People are beginning to ask the wrong questions. Dumbing of our future generation. Perhaps, to evade any inevitable absolute truth. We should not allow that to happen. There's an old wise sage that speaks truth, "My people perish for lack of knowledge." Hosea 4:6. It shouldn't be this way.

That is incredibly perfect! I just wonder, though, if common core makes as much sense as the meme.

The United States has been steadily falling behind the rest of the world in math and science. Common core will only make things worse. Young people are going into lifelong debt to take courses that don't teach them the skills to get a job.

I'm really terrified of the world my children are going to live in once I'm gone.

    I copied this from facebook

My daughter and I went through the McDonald's driveway window and I gave the cashier a $5 bill.
Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her 25c.
She said, 'you ...gave me too much money.'
I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar coin back.'
She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request.
I did so, and he handed me back the 25c, and said 'We're sorry but we don’t do that kind of thing.'
The cashier then proceeded to give me back 75 cents in change.
Do not confuse the people at MacD's.
We had to have the garage door repaired.
The repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.
I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.
He shook his head and said, 'You need a 1/4 horsepower.'
I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4 and he said, 'NOOO, it's not. Four is larger than two.'
We haven't used that repairman since...
I live in a semi rural area.
We recently had a new neighbor call the local city council office to request the removal of the DEAR CROSSING sign on our road.
The reason: 'Too many dears are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'
    IDIOT SIGHTING IN FOOD SERVICE.
My daughter went to a Mexican fast food and ordered a taco.
She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.'
He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg lettuce.
I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked,
'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?'
To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?'
He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.'
The pedestrian light on the corner beeps when it's safe to cross the street.
I was crossing with an 'intellectually challenged' co-worker of mine.
She asked if I knew what the beeper was for.
I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red.
Appalled, she responded, 'what on earth are blind people doing driving?!'
    She is a government employee.....
When my husband and I arrived at a car dealership to pick up our car after a
service, we were told the keys had been locked in it.
We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver’s side door.
As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked.
‘Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'its open!'
His reply, 'I know. I already did that side.'
    STAY ALERT!
They walk among us, they breed, and they vote…....
    You now have 2 options...
    Delete it…..
    or
Send it along to put a smile on someone's face today

Sounds like Common Core Math is just another step in the conspiracy to dumb down America by those who want to destroy America and take it's power. This has been going on for a long time through media, video games like Grand Theft Auto, textbooks, etc. Where did the roots of Common Core math begin?

I agree with everything that has been said about common core. It's a nightmare! My grandsons all have it, and trying to help them with their math homework is impossible. I don't understand why they are making simple math so convoluted. It's really a waste of time in my opinion.
