I disagree. Every year, there are fires in California, and things have been pretty calm on the hurricane front as compared to previous years. It is possible that there are more earthquakes but this could be accounted for by fracking or by all of the mysterious underground digging that has been reported but denied officially. I don't know, as I haven't looked into statistics for earthquakes. Our history is filled with floods, as well, which have become perhaps more newsworthy due to the increased number of buildings that are built along waterways, shores, and beaches.

yes but the quakes, tornadoes, fires' storms, and floods are not just happening in the USA..they're happening worldwide on a scale they've never occurred before...

I can't speak with certainty on that but I do know that the weather alarmists lie.

Well I believe that all these intensifying weather conditions are a fulfillment of Bible prophecy and are the "birth pangs" or "beginnings of sorrows" spoken of in Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, and in the book of Revelation too. Weather conditions as well as evil and violence, etc. will only keep intensifying until the return of Jesus Christ.

Just today the whole board-walk on the beach closest to my daughter in Spain has been smashed and washed away by the force of the storms. October in that part of Spain is always hot and beautiful calm weather.. but for the last couple of years it's been unpredictable at any time of the year.. 6 months without rain at times also...

Even in the time that I have been in Maine, I have repeatedly heard about how we've never had snow this early before, or how unusual it is to not have snow on the ground in December, or whatever the weather abnormality might be, and sometimes it seems like that might be the case. Then Facebook will prompt me to view my memories for that day, and I'll find that I had posted pictures of snow on the ground on that same day six years ago, or about how I was wondering if we'd have snow by Christmas eight years ago. Change is what both the weather and the climate does, and that has been the case throughout the history of the planet.

This is true Ken and unfortunately we can't stop the changes in the weather anymore than we can stop the changes in our aging bodies. :)

The Washington Post is an agenda-driven publication, global warming being high on its agenda, as a war on global warming takes power out of the hands of voters and elected officials and places it in the hands of the very organizations that have been the drumbeat for it. If global warmists were on target, the earth would have been devoid of life by now.

Don't you even question statements as to what the "the government" believes. The government directly employs more than two percent of the population of the United States, a number that is probably far exceeded by public-private partnerships, elected officials, and others who may claim to speak for the government.

"The government" is not sentient, and cannot believe anything. No one can speak for the whole of the government with any credibility whatsoever.

We don't know what's causing it but we can believe in something. I belong to those who believe that these increasingly extreme weather conditions are caused by global warming which, again, is caused by natural phenomena as well as man-made ones. Natural phenomena are not new. What's new are the man-made ones. Over here we haven't witnessed an increase in quakes and other natural phenomena like volcanism but there's clearly been an increase in storms, tornadoes, droughts and floodings caused by changes in the atmosphere now containing too much energy which, in part, is due to man-made emissions. The additional man-made input tips the balance in favor of more extreme weather condition which we have never been used to.
Since neither man nor the atmosphere is likely to change, mankind will just have to wait and see what's gonna happen. I'll be dead anyway when things might get out of control.

It is possible that we are going into another ice age. Climate always warms prior to an ice age. Atmospheric water is what causes ice ages, not cold, but water vapor is the most abundant greenhouse gas. If we want to stop climate change, we can simply cover the oceans with plastic, then the worlds climate would stabilize....:)

There is so much disinformation around, I have been unable to sift out just which side is lying like a rug, or which side is lying the most. Who wins the Miss Naughty pageant crown for being the biggest lying liar....the climate change alarmists, or the climate change deniers? Don't know, and it likely don't matter none, at least to me. By the time things can get really bad (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-09-29/50-degree-cities-becoming-closer-to-reality/10308350), I'll be long dead, and so not my problem. The next generation, and those thereafter, will either adapt to the future environment or perish, just as Mother Nature decrees. Doubt the Richie Rich types will have any problem, either way it goes.

The government is sentient, to the same degree a beehive or ant colony is, even though more dissent is tolerated than by bees or ants. So what does the government believe? Depends on which chamber of the beehive you ask. The history goes back and forth (https://history.aip.org/climate/Govt.htm), so not much help there. NOAA swings back and forth, depending on which president is pulling their strings, but here (https://www.climate.gov/news-features/climate-qa/did-global-warming-stop-1998) obviously admits there is such a thing as global warming. NASA on the other hand has been a fairly consistent supporter of the 'alarmists' (https://climate.nasa.gov/), irregardless of the current administration (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...ites-climate-change-survive-trump-era-n891806) or the current official policy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_change_policy_of_the_United_States).

According to kunc.org (http://www.kunc.org/post/massive-go...climate-warming-and-humans-are-cause#stream/0) "a massive government report has been issued", called "Climate Science Special Report, which is part of an even larger scientific review known as the fourth National Climate Assessment. The NCA4, as it's known, is the nation's most authoritative assessment of climate science. The report's authors include experts from leading scientific agencies, including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NASA and the Department of Energy", etc., and for any curious, I have linked the pdf below:

    https://science2017.globalchange.gov/downloads/CSSR2017_FullReport.pdf

Marketwatch reports that the Government Accountability Office is able to put a price tag on this nonexistent 'climate change' (https://www.marketwatch.com/story/6-ways-to-prepare-your-finances-for-climate-change-2016-12-20), and their website (https://www.gao.gov/key_issues/climate_change_funding_management/issue_summary) also supports the 'alarmists'. As already mentioned, there seems to be a Janus Effect running through the government, where the politicians wish to deny it on the one hand, yet engage in "international efforts to combat climate change" on the other (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...s-still-fighting-global-warming-idUSKCN1GR0F5). That said, I've found just as many references from the 'deniers'. So is it real or not? Obviously the 'deniers' and 'alarmists' cannot both be telling the truth, whole truth, and nothing but. So which side is lying? Like I said, don't much care, as I greatly doubt I will live long enough for it to have any negative impact on my life. This is a problem for the young, and their kiddies, and their kiddies. For me it's simply another fun topic to research, and debate about.

I'm not sure if global warming is causing changes in our weather patterns or not.

I do believe that the world will continue with or without us and it only makes sense to do whatever is within our power to limit pollution and conserve our planets natural resources for future generations.

What harm can come from living in a cleaner greener world?
