Hey, after an 8-year absence, I re-joined my Apple Valley Senior Citizens Club Aerobics Class!

They meet for one hour every Tuesday and Thursday in the Recreation Room of our large Clubhouse.

After being away from the regular fitness routine for so long, and being age 82, I've begun to feel stiff and limited in my body and limb movements, so this will perk me up again!

We follow the movements from our instructor, and use dumbells and elastic straps for stretching.

That instructor exercises every muscle in our body, even the fingers!

Out of 20 Seniors in the class,16 are Chicks and 4 are Dudes.

What has the religious quote got to do with Health and Fitness?

I think you're in the wrong category, Babs!

OK, you people...I know that some of you are active visitors to the Gym, so tell me about your fitness programs, huh?

I'm looking for a Seniors fitness workout class that uses some gym machines.

I'll look into Planet Fitness tomorrow.

I’m about 15 years younger than you but I threw around close to 80,000 lbs of plates in a little over an hour this morning and Yvonne swam 50 laps in the lap pool.

EDIT: But it took us over three years of constant work to get there............

If I may be so bold to suggest that you find a decent priced trainer before you hit the floor. Someone who you can explain what your initial goals are and who can go with you from station to station just to make sure you are doing things correctly. It only takes 3 or 4 sessions to develope good form and find out how much weight you NEED to be lifting (versus how much you WANT to lift or push around) and then you can go your merry way doing things on your own.
First lesson that I can give is absolutely free which is the same that any good trainer will tell you:
Leave your ego at the door.

Nearly every new guy that comes in our gym has the same problem and it goes double for seniors who haven’t lifted in a long time or even accomplished a few pushups on a daily basis. EGO.
They come in and within a half hour of trying to manhandle the equipment and trying to plow through a whole bunch of weight, they’re ready for a month’s rest and / or an orthopedic surgeon and a chiropractor or worse.

There’s no such thing as easy and fast muscle building just as there isn’t any miracle fat burner. It’s all work and work produces a lot of aches and as long as it’s only ache and not sharp pains, it’s all good.
Like the tortoise and the hare: slow and easy does the trick......

I'm not interested in muscle building...I just want to get in a more flexible condition for an 82-year-old,

I don't want body building at all; my build is fine as it is,

    Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah,

Ya know, I read somewhere in another post of yours just begging someone to answer you, and then, when I do you don't want it.
There's an 84 year old guy at my gym who squats with 350 and a 90 year old who benches 200 so I just assumed that you, at 82 would be a little interested, but do forgive me cause you're already in better shape than the two I mentioned and myself included...…………….

By the bye.....aerobics builds muscle so......
