Yesterday, while in a local store, I saw Rice Krispies were on sale, so I bought a box. I really liked, as a kid, hearing the snap, crackle, pop (was well trained by Madison Avenue) and it's crunchiness. Since I hadn't had this in over 10 years, I bought a box and actually looked forward to eating it this morning, with a banana. Ok. So I prepare it, and though I felt a bit stupid, actually got pleasure from hearing that snap, crackle, pop. It was still there, the only difference being that I have to put my ear closer to the bowl and thought 'one day might have to dunk my head in to hear this.' THERE WILL BE NO ONE DAY! Yeah, I'll finish the box, eventually (or not), but there was no crunchy at all! MUSH! What happened to the recipe? Even looks slightly different, thinner. Had a bit plain, still MUSH! May this be the worst thing to happen to me today.
We make rice crispy treats on a regular basis. The granddaughters love them and so do I. There's something about biting into that crunchy treat that turns me into a kid again.
Let me get this straight. There *was* snap, crackle, and pop....but no crunch? . Maybe you spent too much time listening. . Try eating faster. Later you can get an amplification bowl.
No "snap, crackle and pop"??? Last time we bought a cereal package that had different small boxes of cereal in it, including Rice Krispies, I got the "snap, crackle and pop" in my bowl. Think that was last year.
Yes, there WAS snap, crackle, pop but NO crispy crunchy! Had to put my ear close to the bowl because I must be hard of hearing from sitting in the front row, years & years ago, at the Fillmore East! Blame Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, et. al for the deafness & Kellogg's for my biggest beef of NO crispy & bland taste! Too lazy to make cookies, but when my 6 month old grandson gets bigger will have to change that!
TBH I was never a big fan of cereal, maybe because I hate milk. Now that there is almond milk I do eat Fiber One some mornings but only because it's got lots of fiber and is low calorie....not very fond of the taste.
i also use to love rice krispies--but they get soggy in the milk----i am allergic to regular milk so i use lactaid which is really good on cereal
I'm not crazy about Fiber One but this one from Kellogg's is pretty good! I like to sprinkle a couple of tablespoons on top of a dish of ice cream for a healthy crunch!
I have never really enjoyed cereal much either, but I do love granola, especially with lots of raisins, and good stuff in it. I prefer it with yogurt but milk is okay too. Or just plain dry as a snack. Hot oatmeal with apple and raisins is good in the cold winter.
I hear snap, crackle and pop every morning when I get out of bed. Unfortunately, that happens LONG before I get the Rice Krispies out of the pantry.
Mary: "I hear snap, crackle and pop every morning when I get out of bed. Unfortunately, that happens LONG before I get the Rice Krispies out of the pantry." LOL!!
