There seems to be a trend of dropping the second "o" in the article "too", as I frequently observe in posts in this Forum. Example: "I find that stuff to be to expensive." or "You can count me in, to." Economizing on words is one thing, but this is dumb! Hal
I am guilty too. I have always been a bad speller but what makes it even worse is spell checkers when I spell a word incorrect but it makes another word. I don't look back because it was not high lighted. Before I would re read it over and over looking for misspells
I've always been a good speller, so If you ever see that kind of thing in my posts you can be assured it was a Typo...
Looking back at a lot of my posts, I find that I frequently drop words, and I'm not sure how that comes about because my spelling and grammar has been mostly pretty good. Spellcheck is a frequent adversary, as well. There are times when it catches a typo or something else that may have slipped through but the spellcheck on a Mac is insistent. It makes the correction automatically and it's not always right. Then when I go back to change it back again, it fights with me for a while before finally yielding.
I went to the store and spent two dollars for candy yesterday. It was too good to waste so I ate it, too. …………….. What is so hard about that? To, too, two. We were supposed to learn that in third grade.
See? I've awakened your interest in the matter! Typos are never an excuse. Just re-read your post before you send it! Howl
Ya know, I'm getting a little tired of you continually berating other people. You've managed to judge people here as dumb, stupid, ignorant, unintelligent etc. No one here is above making mistakes no matter how smart someone is and for you to spotlight such an insignificant thing is frankly a little boring and childish. Then, you have the unmitigated gall to insist that we HAVE to meet with your standards. Some people simply cannot spell but their posts are nonetheless valuable. Whether someone writes to, two, too isn't what is to be judged here. The content, context and the heart by which someone writes is what is most important and not their derned spelling. Personally, I'll write to from now on just because it aggravates you because your opinion on two, too or to is a bunch of #2.
My gall is not unmitigated Sir; it is fully mitigated! Also, I have been scolded on every forum I have ever been on for my Perfectionist attitude! I don't find this a reason for shame; I find it a reason for Pride! I have the highest respect for those who are impeccable in the excellence of their posts! I am including Frank, Bobby, and most of the Women in my admiration. Harold
Oh then you were attempting to make your labeling people “dumb” less intimidating? Dumb is pretty straight forward and your demand that we should all do as you say or be labeled as dumb is also pretty harsh. Fully mitigated is rather confounding so I think you might wish to look up the word before compounding your obvious lack of understanding of it.
