Everybody says to nail your horseshoes on the wall with the open end facing up, so the luck won't spill out. But with the open end facing up, this means the horse is walking down the wall. I would rather nail my horseshoes with the open end down, so it would look like my horse is walking up the wall. Hal
@Bobby Cole @Hal Pollner , if memory serves me correctly, you get points for landing near the pole in the Horseshoe Game. In other words, the person whose horseshoe lands nearest the pole gets a point. Hence the saying, "Close don't count except in horseshoes and hand grenades."
You are indeed “almost” correct. It is not who is closest but a horseshoe’s length from the pole is a single point. Good call !
