Our Post Office must think they shut down the Government services months ago because they deliver and pick up the mail when they feel like it and have been doing so for quite awhile now.
If they shut down Socialized Security, then I'd have to tap into my Savings, which would take me far beyond the rest of my life, with Boeing being right on time on the first of every month as they've been doing since August 1,1998! Hal
If there were to be an interruption in SS I do believe we would find our legislators literally being thrown out of their offices via their windows by seniors sporting canes, elbow wraps and wheelchairs. No, I’m not trying to be funny but merely stating a fact as I see it because I would be one of the ones with the joint wraps.
Sort of like this old quote from Harry Truman; “It’s a recession when your neighbor loses his job; it’s a depression when you lose your own.”
I was stuck in the shutdown of 1996, so I can identify with the folks who are involved, but I still say "tough it out". They are not suffering as it is depicted since mortgage companies, credit cards, and most utilities have already announced that they will not punish Federal workers for late payments. In 1996, the Lutheran League (or something like that ) stepped in to provide for the truly needy. In 1996, the ENTIRE government was shutdown, not a just a partial one as is occurring now, so many more folks were involved. I was among those who had to report to work regardless, as I was considered essential and that was kinda a drag. Obama tried to make his little shutdown as bad as he could by shutting down everything, even if it required no funding, thus spending money on things that didn't require funding just to make a point. It is recommended that you have enough cash available for six months without pay, but most folks cant make it a month. We would be fine for a long time if we had to make it, but it wouldn't be necessarily a pleasant experience.
What's the big deal about government workers being laid off? When I was young and just married the company I worked for was sold to another company. I was laid off for 4 months. I survived. I didn't get back pay for the time I was off either.
THAT is what NEEDS to happen ! So tired of the Dems pitching little hissy fits. They need to work for the people and not for themselves and they are NOT doing that ! And by the way .. I would feel the same way if the GOP was acting like spoiled little brats. These people are supposed to be working for us. If YOU were behaving that way in your job you would be fired immediately .. so why are these leaches permitted to continue lining their pockets and ignoring what is best for this country?
It's the President bullying everyone with his my way or the highway routine who is to blame. Leadership is based on compromise. He has not taken any roads to be president of the whole nation, just his base, never more than a third of the country. He did lose the popular vote, must be sulking. Takes his toys and goes home when everything won't go exactly where he wants. Temper tantrum like a 2 year old. Needs a good spanking, no wait, he'd enjoy that too much.
STRONGLY disagree. It's time to get over the fact that he was elected and the other side lost. It's time to get busy and do what is right for the people. What is happening now is worse than what happens in pre-school .. crying because they lost and refusing to work for what they are hired to do. It does not matter who is in the White House ... they and all the other elected officials were put in place to work for the people .. and it's not happening !
Now now Lulu, firstly, there is nothing that indicates that D. Trump is into S&M so let’s not pass that around lest the MSM gets hold of it and decides to make some commentary on it. Back to basics. Everyone who really thinks about it has to recognize abject hatred when they see and hear it. As it has already been written, there’s a whole lot in today’s political spectrum that depends on who says what, when they say it and how it is translated by whoever translates it to the public. It is an absolute that whatever the present President of the United States says, it will be disagreed with by others who are in power no matter the subject or context. Chuck Schumer said from the start that he will never agree with anything that President Trump submits and he’s gone out of his way to keep that promise. Good God, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every so often but those who TOTALLY oppose D.Trump won’t even admit that he has found quite a few. Even those things like border control that they (Pelosi, Schumer and Obama) already agreed upon, they suddenly back track and disagree now because D. Trump is behind it. That’s not compromise, that’s stupidity based on hatred for an individual. Be a “never Trumper” but listen to the American people first is all we are asking for. I don’t care who someone likes or dislikes but I dearly want the government as a whole to start being who they are elected to be and do instead treating the American Public as though we do not exist except to furnish their paychecks. Note: So far as the popular vote goes, D. Trump won the majority of states in the U.S. so it’s a good thing that the electoral votes stands otherwise California, New York, Florida and Texas would be making our presidential choices. The other 46 states might as well just sit home for the elections. There are a few things that I do not like that D. Trump does but at least I do not feel as though Social Security is threatened because from where I sit, he wants the fund to be repaid and I just got a heckova raise compared to the nil response we received from Obama’s administration. To me, the biggest bully in the sandbox in recent history was Obama for many reasons but then, I do not remember any president in the history of our nation who hasn’t acted as though he was the boss because, they are the boss and there has never been a whole lot of compromise from the presidency to congress. Grover Cleveland (democrat) vetoed 584 bills in 4 years so I guess one could say he was a bit of a bully.
He's into the S part. He grabs women's private areas. Not caress, grab. Said so himself. Not my words, his. If the Russian rumor is true, he likes being peed on. That's the M part. "Chuck Schumer said from the start that he will never agree with anything that President Trump submits" Republicans, particularly McConnell, said since the first Inauguration Day they'd do anything to make Obama a one-termer. Also, I could find no link to Chuck, a man I happen to know as he used to be my congressman (my mother knew him really well) saying what you said he did. If you can find that link, it would be greatly appreciated. "Be a “never Trumper” but listen to the American people first is all we are asking for." I have and polling is 55% anti-wall. Embracing Trump is embracing unreality. He could have made an attempt to be president for ALL the people, like Ronald Reagan did. Donald stayed with his base only and debased the rest. It was his job to at least try to unite us, he did not. He did not rise to the occasion, preferring the drama of division. I first learned the name 'Donald Trump' when I was sixteen. That's a long time to observe and watch a man.
