I can't wait until all these unpaid folks decide "enough is enough" and start working to the letter.
If any of you know labor contracts, you know that they are tricky little suckers. You also know that whichever side of the contract you were on is that there were many things that looked good on paper but kind of gummed up tje works when fully implemented. Both management and labor would overlook certain things to make sure the job was done in timely and efficient manner.
Hence the term"Work to the Letter"
Whenlabor management unrest raised its head there were calls by management to enforce to the letter and labor to work to the letter. Make sure every single nitpicking move is followed, perform extremely thorough checks and double checks, thing crawl to a stand still real fast.

    Work to the letter!

Therein lies the problem. You don't listen to anyone who tells you the truth. In the very old tape, he said that he could do that, not that he did; it was a conversation about what women will allow from a celebrity. It was much the same as John Lennon saying that the Beatles were more famous than Christ. Second, I don't think anyone with even half a brain believes made-up rumors spread by Russians who were colluding with the Democrats.

To my recollection, he said he DID endorse it. Here is the transcripts, where he tells of other adventures.
    https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/08/us/donald-trump-tape-transcript.html

AND, the Howard Stern tapes. I listened live to the Donald for Years! Do you know of these tapes? Trump is downright vulgar.

You know, Ken, I can understand you being happy about his policies, his court appointments, his tax breaks especially for the top 1%, I can see that. But to defend him and his social actions over the years? You are going too far. I don't think anyone with even half a brain believes he is a well behaved gentleman. Au contraire, people accepted his actions regarding women, not deny them. They welcomed him warts and all. Doing your argument a disservice here.

I don't elect a president to be my spiritual advisor, but if you're comparing such things, Bill Clinton would rank far lower than Trump, as would his wife, who supported him in this.

Of course you don't, that's why you should save your breath defending Trump re: women and just stick with the true facts that you prefer his policies.

The true facts are: As an intelligent, clear thinking woman, I prefer his politics.

I don't defend him in these things. I don't care enough about these things to defend him. There's really no need to anyhow. The media has lied so much about Trump that reasonable people wouldn't believe them if they told the truth. I don't care any more about the language that Trump might have used twenty years ago (or even today) than I would care about the language used by someone I might hire to put a new roof on my house or to plow the driveway. Besides, most of the people who pretend to care about what Trump said were defending Clinton for the things he actually did, so that's just plain silly.

I believe that something has been missed here ...

A simple question was put out for discussion .. it is this ...

" Are You Surviving The Government Shutdown? "

I know it was not intended to incite a riot or to have a pissing match take place.

It was intended to have a discussion .. sadly that is no longer what is happening.

Perhaps these little quotes will be of assistance.

    DISCUSS, think and decide.

Those who fight don't listen .... and those who listen don't fight.

You can become Bitter .... or you can become Better.

It's your choice but remember that angry people aren't always
    wise people.

We are all entitled to our opinions.

One who chooses to be rude, attack, yell and fight rather than simply make a statement and then respect the opinions of others loses ALL credibility.

Sometimes it's best if things are upsetting that one moves away from this section of the forum for a while.

Despite constant encouragement to the contrary, the government shutdown is barely noticed by most people in the country, and they wouldn't even be aware of it if not for the constant drumbeat by the media. Even government workers know that they are going to receive back pay, and that includes even those who aren't being required to work. Besides, if you are a government worker, then you should know that this is something that is going to come up from time to time, particularly given that Congress has refused to pass an actual budget for quite some time now.

Far worse than the quandary that government workers might find themselves in are the thousands of other Americans who may lose their jobs, their health insurance, and even their retirement. Former employees of the town that I live in were promised a retirement package that was to include lifetime health-care. The town reneged on it several years back. They joined a few thousand former paper workers here in town, who lost their jobs, their health insurance, and their retirement benefits when the mill sold to someone who filed for bankruptcy after transferring all of the assets of the mill into another company that he formed, then fleeing back to Canada.

Other than the elite, no one in this country is guaranteed a job or a paycheck. A whole lot of people are worse off than government employees who might have to suffer a late paycheck or two. If their lot in life is really so bad, then they could always look for work elsewhere.

Amen to all of that, @Ken Anderson. When I told an acquaintance that the mortgage companies, credit card companies, and utilities were giving the Federal employees a pass on their bills until this is straightened out, his first question was, "Why do they get a pass? When I was laid off, no one gave me any breaks." My reply to him was that they have already been guaranteed all their back pay, even those who did nothing while the shutdown was going on.

Meanwhile some 30 Democrats and their families are pondering the solution to this problem on the beaches s of Puerto Rico. They have it so hard. They talk about the plight of the unpaid workers and live it up on the taxpayer dime.

Come on Al! Talk about a straw man. There is a conference in Puerto Rico that has been planned forever. 30 Democrats are attending. OMG one of them may actually crack a smile God forbid!!
Does this really offend you that much? Or do you just find this fits your narrative so you throw it into the water like a bucket of chum.
In my short time on this forum I have been counseled and censured several times for my attitude.
Read that ridiculous statement and ask why I have the attitude. Is there anything that the democrats could do except die that wouldn't draw your ire?

If they would do the job they were hired to do it wouldn't be offensive.

But rather than get to work they play.

If the common man did what they are doing they would be fired immediately.

It matters not how long that "conference" has been planned for ... they need to do the job they were hired to do .. work first and play later.

Die? It is a given that dead people are not expected to do their jobs. Vote perhaps, but not work.
