My wife will be going in for surgery tomorrow morning. The surgery is for the removal of a synovial cyst between L4 and L5. There is not expected to be a large chance of complications, as opposed to similar surgeries years ago, but surgeries always carry some risk. She will be staying overnight after the surgery, and I'll be in a hotel here in Bangor, where I am now, since we have to be at the hospital at some ungodly hour of the morning (before 7:00).
We will be keeping Michelle in our prayers, as well, Ken. Even when you don’t expect complications, surgery is always scary and worrisome.
Yeah, that stands for the 4th and 5th lumbar vertebrae. The cyst is basically a portion of the synovial fluid that is being squeezed out of its normal place, causing a great deal of pain.
I can identify with the pain, @Ken Anderson. Give your lady our best. Hope for a speedy recovery with minimal pain.
OMG....I feel for her , having Back problems myself, but thank goodness never a Cyst in the Vertebrae, I can clearly understand she must be in Agony . Having had 2 surgeries on my back I know the relief when she wakes up pain free for the first time in a long time, but remember once the anaesthetic wears off, to take very good care until everything settles down... Biggest best wishes to a very caring lady... @Michelle Anderson
