re: My Funny Valentine Sorry but that song (lyrics) always reminds me of one of those insecure jock type guys, who picks a girlfriend that he can belittle (their looks, their personality, the way they dress, their laugh, etc) in front of everyone. Never wants them to change, because he figures they are so desperate they will never leave him. Dislike that song very much. And those kinds of guys.
The Life of a Song: ‘My Funny Valentine’ Some 600 artists, including Chaka Khan, recorded the number that started life in a Depression-era musical comedy Chaka Khan in Berlin in 1995
There was an old movie called The Enchanted Cottage, starring Robert Young, Dorothy McGuire, and Herbert Marshall, 1945. It's classified as a romantic fantasy. Young and McGuire were a young couple, and Herbert Marshall was a mutual friend who was blind. I don't care much for fantasy, but it had a nice message.
On her CBS variety show Carol Burnett performed a parody of the film entitled "The Enchanted Hovel", with herself in the Dorothy McGuire's role and Dick Van Dyke in the Robert Young role.
I found this video (Season 11) Episode 8 (The Enchanted Hovel) starts at 17:55. The sound is poor and the writing backward.
