Since I don’t watch television, I have not participated in this thread. The last commercial that I really enjoyed was probably the Hamm’s Beer commercial from back in the 1960’s, with the little bear floating down the river. Anyway, while rambling around on YouTube, I discovered this Amazon commercial , and it even has Harrison Ford in it.......... what could be more delightful ?
I realise advertising sustain commercial television but it is mind numbing and even muted it breaks your concentration and interest. Commercial radio is even worse.
Lately, the ones I enjoy have rich people wearing mask, skateboarding down the street, eating large burgers in their cars and just having a grand ole time driving around. Rich people are so funny sometimes.
I love commercials. Sure most just plain suck, but many are gems. I liked the series Volkwagen had that showed the progression of a couple from dating to family thru the Volkswagon fleet. There is a commercial for some appliance warranty company where the Angel of Death comes to a womans door. Very well done.
I play a game with commercials. I try to figure out how they can choose their words so carefully, and in such a manner as to make their product look enticing, and still not be technically lying about it. They are very clever with this.
Just saw a Ford Truck commerical with 'East Bound and Down' as the sound track. I have always thought that Jerry Reed was an over looked guitar player. He has a nice, laid back style. Here he is 'laid back' a rocker, in his socks...
He had a great voice too, but he would do a lot of talking in his songs. I always thought that was a waste of a good voice.
Yes! Or imply that they're offering something that no other company offers, like the auto insurance company ad that says "Only pay for what you want!" As if that's not how it works everywhere else....you can opt for higher or lower personal injury amounts, forego road service, pass on medical bill coverage, get "full replacement value coverage", etc.
The Alex Trebek Colonial ad (What are the 3 P's? ) where your premiums never go up. Whole-life life insurance premiums never used to go up. I think they still don't And Allstate homeowner's insurance had the best one. It said you can choose the option that guarantees your premiums will never go up. Guess what, they add an additional monthly fee for that option, to guarantee your premiums will go up. I bet that monthly fee went up regularly too. They dropped that ad rather quickly.
I do like some commercials - the new M&M commercial with Christina Applegate, and the Danny Devto ones.
I know this probable doesn't belong here but I think these Liberty Mutual ads proclaiming that Liberty lets you buy only what you need are the dumbest thing ever. I've never in 60+ years of driving bought more than I need of any kind of insurance. I will state hat that's assuming that what I insuring is not under a loan therby forcing a level of coverage.
