I try to follow what is going on in the world, so I read/listen to news about Haiti among others. What concerns me more is the problems in the whole of South America. Seems that power struggles are underway; pitting U.S., Russia and China in Latin America affairs. Venezuela is just the latest in that battle.

@Martin Alonzo we just heard there were riots last week over food and fuel prices. I know very little beyond that. That is why I was asking. As far a Latin America goes, there do seem to be some proxy battles going on, with the U.S. and China being the major players and Russia and Iran playing subordinate roles, although Russia is working hard. Most of South America is with the U.S., and Venezuela and Cuba the main Communist nations and Bolivia is straddling the fence. The countries on our side seem to be in the better shape.
There is a discussion of the trouble in Haiti spilling into the DR with refugees and such. There is also mention of the idea that Venezuela is affecting the situation in Haiti.
Don be careful where you get your news. We have had millions of Haitians here mostly after the earthquake. Now they are giving some the opportunity for citizenship if they sign up and go through the process. Most were illegal and now they are rounding them up to be deported they were given the chance to sign up as workers and given work permits. The forum that I showed you is a pretty good barometer to what is going on.
We have a new problem with Haiti . Biden/Harris has been bringing them up here and settling them into towns across the country. People are now reporting that their pets are coming up missing, and any wildlife or even animals in park are being caught and eaten by the illegals. They have been give all of the goodies that the other illegals have, like homes, food stamps, and cash, but they still are catching and eating any animals that are not locked up and watched over. I was just reading about some that have been put here in Alabama, and the residents were all upset by what was happening, and when they went to the town council, the council refused to listen to them and announced the meeting was adjourned. So far, all we have is just the regular Hispanics from either Mexico or Guatemala.
It is interesting , and ironic, that we have been hearing about the illegals bringing in fentanyl, child trafficking, raping women and children, taking over apartment complexes; but none of this has stirred up all of American until they started eating our pets ! Vegans are mad, PETA is mad, pet owners everywhere are horrified, and in the midst of it all, Kamala defends it, says we have to provide for them, and she intends to bring in even more people from Haiti.
People have their dogs watching the debate, and I have been just laughing at the videos they are posting. The dogs seem to really be listening and understanding about the pets being eaten. One dog listened carefully to President Trump, and when Harris came on, the dog started barking and growling at her. The first video I posted showed the poor dog hiding behind the couch after hearing about pets being eaten, and this dog just stood there with this totally worried look on his face. A lot of people from the Springfield area are now posting pictures of the dead animal carcasses they are finding, but I hurry past those and not going to post any of that. The governor, Mike DeWine, is sending money and more police (Highway Patrol) to the area to help get things under control. This is going to finally hit the mainstream news pretty soon, the way it is going. Google says the main thing that everyone is now searching is if the Haitians are eating people’s pets; so the coverage is definitely helping.
In a later version of Robinson Crusoe, He was horrified to find someone was stealing his corralled geese and eating them, one a day. He became physical with the thief who merely thought, I am hungry and here are some geese. These Hatians are coming from a destitute country where they probably eat what they can catch. I think we should be kind and take them to Biden's beach where they can catch and eat sea gulls.
I'll keep an open mind about illegals eating domestic animals. I don't put anything past some of the people biden/harris have invited into this country. The Left on is saying it isn't true and Trump's a liar, and that's reason enough for me to believe it's absolute truth.
The situation with the Haitians is different than most of the other illegals. The ones coming from Mexico and Central or South America are Hispanics, which are almost all Christian Catholics . The people in Haiti, I think have some African roots, because they are not Christian, and they believe in voo-doo and animal sacrifice and what we would call devil worship. They are given al the same benefits (housing, food cards, etc) that all the other illegals have, so it is not that they are short of food that they are killing the dogs, cats, and other animals. For them, the sacrifice is part of a voo-doo ritual, and eating the sacrificed animal gives them some kind of power, at least in their mind. Last summer, the gangs were all fighting, killing each other, and the news we had then was about some leader called BBQ, and they were said to be starting bonfires in the streets and cannibalizing the dead bodies of the gang members that they killed. So , what they are doing here could escalate into something similar, if we do not get some kind of law enforcement on it and shut it down, and send these people back to their own country, where this type of thing is acceptable.
The astonishing thing to me is that they "transported" 15,000 Haitians to a town of 59,000 people. Can you imagine that?? All the social services, charities, etc. must be absolutely overwhelmed. Who comes up with this ridiculous bullshit? Why are they here? What the hell.
Apparently it was begun while everyone was under Covid restriction, so it is not a sudden influx, but similar things have happened or been done to small towns in Georgia and elsewhere. I remember reading that Biden brought a bunch of Hispanics in to smallish, mostly Black, town in Georgia during Covid. As you said, everything was overwhelmed but the Feds didn't seem to care. They probably figured the town would vote Democrat anyway, no matter what was done to them. Ohio towns may not do that however.
