Do you have a nervous habit, something you do without thinking when you get nervous? Or even when you aren't nervous? I hum songs, in my mind (or so I thought). Didn't realize it was audible until I started making videos. The camera mic picked up random notes here and there. Ruined several videos that way. I had a friend once, who would twirl a pencil.
I tremble, so to control that I cross me legs and flick me ankle ! (a bit difficult standing up though)
I'm going to share my husband's. He used to bite his fingernails when he was nervous, so he decided to try doing something else instead. He chose to pick at the hem of his pants instead of biting his nails. This is the result. In all honesty I would rather he bite his nails because I'm always having to buy new jeans for him.
I'd go mad if me darlin' did that ! His habits drive me crazy as it is, such as when he opens a drawer he never closes it, there are several more He kneels down a lot to get to things, never pulls up the trouser legs first, the result - his knees enter a room before he does meaning the trousers jut out at the knees - drives me crazy - you've started me off now
I twirl my hair around my finger. Consequently lots of broken frizzies. Oops. My husband is a "random whistler" when he's concentrating or off in another world. No recognizable tune, but always his same "composition."
Well it used to bother me Patsy....but then I started buying his new jeans from Walmart and since they only cost about $11 a pair and I end up making cut offs for the summer out of his "shredded pairs"....I don't let it bother me anymore. It takes a while for him to shred them like in the picture.
Haha, I guarantee you wouldn't be so thrilled with the whistling after an hour or so!! I loved your comment about your husband's knees arriving in the room before he does.
I don't think I do anything at all if I'm fidgety or nervous about anything... I do hum a lot and catch myself doing it while looking at items in the aisle of the supermarket, and stop as soon as I realise I'm doing it... but it's not because I'm nervous... just a weird habit!! @Babs Hunt , goodness me that's a lot of torn hem..I'm glad you said it took a long time to get to that point..
In my young life I was a nervous individual. I overcame this young nervousness but I have long pursed my lips wen exhaling, which is a good thing for people with my disease, but somewhere along the way in the past eight or ten years I have developed a whistle, Now since playing a harmonica my whistle has become a mimic, I whistle as though I was playing and not aware of doing so until the misses calls to my attentionIt may nob longer be a nervous tic but merely a bad habit. It does seem to steady my breathing.
I used to fiddle with my Rosary beads like that a lot when I was on a diet and trying not to go and eat chocolate, it gave me something to do with my hands.
