Lately I've been watching those 60-year-old goody-goody sitcoms of the neat, clean "Leave It To Beaver" and his family.

The episodes and their stories are pretty corny and harmless, but what I really enjoy while watching them is the gorgeous Barbara Billingsley, who plays the Beaver's mom.

    What a Dish!

Well , we have our own sitcoms here of course... but even tho' I was only a teen I always loved to watch some American sitcoms, like bewitched, or Green acres.... I know they can bu sugar candy coated, but I'd rather have that sometimes than what wer'e served up today in the name of entertainment on some shows..

I used to watch the sitcoms but have given up on them because of the language and subject matter. Watch old movies, Hallmark Channel, history channel.

Since "old" is a relative term, some of these may not be considered to be such, and a few of them aren't necessarily comedies, although there is a comedic element to all of these, I think.
    • The Waltons
    • Little House on the Prairie
    • The Courtship of Eddie's Father
    • Home Improvement
    • The Andy Griffith Show
    • The Cosby Show
    • All in the Family
    • Leave it to Beaver
    • 7th Heaven
    • Eight is Enough
    • My Three Sons
    • That 70s Show
    • Sanford and Son
    • The Addams Family
    • Happy Days
    • 3rd Rock From the Sun
    • Soap
    • The Brady Bunch
    • The Partridge Family
    • Still the Beaver

Yes, Barbara was definitely good looking! Tony Dow put on a little weight since his "Beaver" years and Jerry Mathers definitely did. Hugh Beaumont was licensed to Preach with the Methodist Church. Ken Osmond became an Los Angeles police officer and retired from that.

Another sitcom where some of the cast continued on in tv. Robert Young went on to star as the head doctor in Marcus Welby, M.D.. Elinor Donahue went on to have a small part in the movie, Pretty Woman.

Yep, still occasionally watch the reruns of

    The Waltons,
    Little house on the prairie
Never missed an episode of happy days ( no re-runs here now)
Loved ''soap'' once I got into understanding what was going on, was a bit confused for the first couple of episodes
Loved the Cosby show, but we don't get re-runs now..
The partridge family was my teen era, so I loved that
    Adams family..( who diliked that)?
Never too keen on the Brady bunch

I saw a couple of episodes of third rock from the sun..didn't like it personally, but it was very popular here with the viewing public

the rest of your list, are shows that didn't make it over the pond...

The Brady Bunch was more of a laugh at - rather than laugh with - show, but I thought it was entertaining.

Thank God, nobody mentioned "Gilligan's Island"!

I occasionally glanced at scenes in that show, but never watched a full episode, because I couldn't stand that Gilligan character! (Bob Denver)
Even though he was scripted to be a scatterbrain, I also found his physical appearance revolting!

The same goes for that skinny idiot who played Sheriff Andy Taylor's inept, loudmouth know-it-all Deputy Barney Fife. (Don Knotts)

It would have been much more satisfying if Gomer Pyle (Jim Nabors) had served as the Deputy...at least in uniform, he looked like a man!

But wait...don't get me wrong...there were a few sitcoms that I honestly enjoyed, such as "The Waltons", "My Three Sons", "Leave It To Beaver", "I Love Lucy", and a few others.

I watched Gilligan's Island but it was never one of my favorites.

    What about

Fantasy Island, ?...I used to like it back in the day but when I occasionally catch an episode now, it's almost amateurish in it's format..

    ...or Love boat?
