    Does anyone remember Dobie Gillis? It was an earlier show and where Bob Denver got his start as Maynard G. Krebs, who was allergic to work, and would have an anaphylactic reaction whenever it was mentioned. The Burns and Allen Show was transitional and took radio to the TV. It was somewhat innovative, as George could watch the show on his TV set and would know what was happening among the other characters.

    I watched them sometimes but didn't really like either Fantasy Island or Love Boat. I think they played back to back.

    They were early sitcoms Burns and Allen was on from 1950 to 1958, and The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis ran from 1959 until 1963. You may not have been around for much of the first, and I don't know when you got a TV.

    We got a Tv when I was abut 6 I think..which would have been the early 60's ..but we only had 2 channels, so I would have known if my mum ever watched any of those , and or we would have got reruns years later which we didn't, so I know we didn't get them..

    I liked Fantasy Island with its little character "Tattoo" played by Herve Villachaize.

    @Holly Saunders
    I liked Montalban's accent. His little helper, Herve Villechaize, was French, born in Paris. His presence MADE the show, IMO. Just over 3 feet tall, he had life-long problems with his health, sleeping often in a kneeling position to remove pressure from his internal organs. He committed suicide at age 50, I believe.

    Oh yes without him the show wouldn't have been the success it was IMO... I knew he was French, and had committed suicide, but I had no idea that he had such a struggle with his health..poor man!!

    I never liked Mary Tyler Moore, because to me, she portrayed a brash, uppity, superior, loud Feminazi.

    I like my TV sitcom women to be more feminine, quiet, and demure...now THAT'S Sex Appeal!
