I tired this and hated it.... Shirataki Spaghetti...yuck. I hate chick peas. Will just give up pasta before I eat that again. Then later on will try the zucchini spirals with marina sauce. I tried this once with the frozen kind- horrible. Then bought some Almond flour, just have to learn what to do with it. Just trying different hings while I rid myself of some carbs but some of this stuff is nasty.
Almond flour is awesome to make waffles or pancakes... The other stuff you mentioned, I can see it being ................. yuk !!! nothing like fresh although frozen is the next best thing... Try a spaghetti squash.. Very easy to prepare and is quite good...
I know this flour best for baking. But dont realky eat waffles or pancakes. Looking for cookie or cake use.
Just had to reply to your post even though I said I wasn’t posting here anymore. Agree about the Shirataki spaghetti..UGH...no amount of rinsing gets rid of the smell and taste...kind of like rotten eggs or something, lol...too bad though because they are so low in calories and carbs and look like the real thing. I do like spaghetti squash and zucchini spirals...trick is not to get the frozen ones...fresh is best. If you don’t expect them to taste Exactly like pasta then you’ll be very happy with them.... Ive made a delicious spaghetti sausage casserole with ground turkey, tomatoes, fresh basil and cheese....it’s even good without the ground turkey.
Gloria, we use both almond flour and coconut flour, and the microwave bread/muffins are fast and delicious. I think that I posted a recipe here (somewhere), will look for it and post it agin in the low carb section. What I do, that is also an easy way to start using the almond flour, is to mix it with a regular recipe as part of the flour. We have (besides the almond and coconut flour), flax seeds, chia seeds, and psyllium husks (what Metamucil is made from, except that has loads of sugar and artificial flavorings). I make what we call “Fiberlicious” cookies or muffins. I use one package of either cookie, brownie, or cake mix from the grocery. I take a large mixing bowl, add about 1/2 cup of the almond/coconut flour (either or some of both works), then I add about 1/3 cup each of flax and chia seeds into my blender cup and grind them into a meal, and add that to the batter. Next is about two large tbsp of psyllium , and a rounded spoon of baking powder, because you will be making a much larger amount than the package makes. For oil, I use coconut oil, warmed up if necessary and a larger amount than the recipe calls for, and the same with eggs or any liquids called for in the recipe. I am an experimenter-type person, so I just mix and add until the batter looks right to me. Once I have mixed up all of my extra ingredients, I add the baking mix and stir it all in, and then start adding the oil, eggs, etc. I also often shred or blend fresh carrots, zucchini, or apples, and add some of that into the batter. Once it is baked, you have a healthy treat, and a piece of it only contains a small amount of the original mix, and lots of the healthy natural ingredients, and you will be full with a smaller size piece because of all of the fiber you are getting with this recipe. If you have not used things like chia and flax before, what you might want to do is start with smaller amounts in your recipes and then gradually increase the amount that you add in as you get used to the flavors You can also add more spices, raisins, and things like you would with any cookie or muffin. Bobby loves these, and he is also glad that he can have treats and that they are basically heathy and good for us.
I really hate being a pest or repeating myself,........... BUT .......... I do hope everyone is drinking their water each and every day....
I was just thinking....... I was going to open up another thread asking about our weight.. I personally weigh myself every Sunday morning and was wondering if anyone else does that as well.. If I open up a thread, would you post your weight weekly to keep track of your weight loss and your progress ???? The reason I ask is some might find it a bit too personal and want to keep their weight to themselves...
@Steve North ...um No.. I will discuss sex, death, age and all other taboo subjects ..but right now is not a time I would devluge my weight. However, I will tell much I need to lose and how much I have lost when the time comes. Between meds, not smoking and other things that are my fault have gained way too much. I try not to weigh because it can put a damper on my psyche. However I have to keep tabs on weight to make sure I am not holding alot of fluid. This here biscut is way too fluffy
I was just thinking that if we all posted how much weight we lost WITHOUT mentioning the present weight if it could be some sort of encouragement.. We can also take the option of mentioning how much total weight we would like to lose.. After all, after losing even a few pounds, one likes to be told how great they are doing and to keep it up.. We are here to encourage and help each other.. Some might not lose anything this week but they still should post a 0 weight loss and be told to keep it up.. perhaps we can see what they are eating and make some suggestions on their food intake.... Please don't get me wrong when I am trying to help out here... For example, I mentioned in my signature my original weight and my present weight.. I could afford to drop a bit more which I am going to do very shortly.. I am personally waiting for Passover to be finished and then we (my wife as well) are going to go on induction to drop a bit..
So sorry, guess I mis read your post...but yes I can do that one. And you are right, i think it could encourage us and perhaps stay motivated.
I have only been lowering carbs and sugar this week, and tho, i have dropped some water weight, will wait until I lose a few more before posting. Technically need to lose much more than I will actually lose.Am aiming to lose 30 for now.
No problem... Perhaps I should of explained it better the first time... If some want to post their weight, it is their option,....... however, ...... if some rather just post their loss, that is perfect..... I will start a new thread...
This isn't a problem but I just wanted to let you know the different meats and fish we eat up here... Generally my minced meat is either chicken or turkey, (bought) but..... I also have some minced Moose, Deer, and Bear meat that I use as well.. Sausages made from a mixture of Bear and Moose are absolutely the best ever.. Both are large animals and there is lots of scrap when dressing them to make lovely sausages.. I sometimes get a Rabbit but not often.. I have in the freezer some............... Deer meat of all kinds, Moose meat of all kinds, Beaver meat, Black Bear meat as minced, cubed, and roasts.. Fish ................... I am low at present but I have had lots of Sturgeon, Walleye, Musky, and a variety of other fish.. The fish I am using lately is store bought frozen fillets.. All of the above is either hunted or caught locally and given to me already packaged and ready for the freezer and in some cases, already frozen..
I hate to repeat myself.................... BUT..... I do hope everyone is drinking their water every day..... Lots and lots of water daily .............. Personally, I drink about 80 ozs of water daily... That is above all the other liquids I drink such as coffee, tea, pop, and juice...
