How close are they to where you live @Lon Tanner

For example the lakes are just a 10 minute walk from my home, and the farmland is all around me in the same lane...

Is the question what do I like living close to or what would I like living close to? I like living close to my family. I'd love to live near the ocean. They could come visit me there.

I want to be your neighbor at the ocean, @Shirley Martin , I would love to live near an ocean also ! !
When I lived out in Western Washington, we were within 1-2 hours drive to be at Ocean Shores, and I loved going there when we could go. I had a timeshare, and the kids and I would sometimes just go and spend the weekend at the ocean.
When i was at home, I loved seeing the majestic Mt. Rainier, and also on nice days, we could see Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Adams.
There is just something about seeing those awesome snow-capped peaks that I love.

Now that I live here in Alabama, it is an all-day drive to even get close to the ocean, and not something that is likely to ever happen; and Bobby has no interest in traveling, so when I have gone, it is with my daughter, Robin.
In answer to the question, I think that (if it were possible to live anywhere I wanted) I would move to Hawaii and find a small town there and spend the rest of my life in Hawaii on one of the islands. The ocean is incredible, and the mountains are so tall and just so green and beautiful and wild looking there.

As far as where I like living, I guess that this is as good as anywhere, because i am close to see Robin, and I don’t have to shovel snow. There are good hospitals and doctors here, and we are close to easy shopping areas; so , all in all, this is a fine place to live.

I'm fortunate that I have a second home near the ocean... I lived there for 10 years, and yes people do want to visit you there , but they expect you to drop everything all the time they're there and take them places....not so much of a problem when you're retired, but I was working. I enjoyed having them out there but I just couldn't take the time to be a personal taxi to them everywhere, while I still had to go to work...

@Holly Saunders , if you invite me to visit you, I'll find ways to amuse myself. I'll even cook and wash dishes for you...…………. when I'm not busy sightseeing.
