You were working for minimum wage all your life, you said so yourself, if you hadn't you might find yourself living in a much better place than you are.., Your continual reference to my boat, my husbands' car .. smacks of jealousy!! .... ...and I won't stop posting on any thread that your talking about MY financial situation of which you know nothing about... ..

You post about your financial situation on an open forum so anyone is entitled to make comments about that, if you don't like it, stop telling the world your business...

... I otoh... have never once stated what my husband earns,, so it's not up for discussion !!

To think about it @Holly Saunders, the amount of hours going back and forth plus the overnights is only a couple of hours a day from what a professional inner city truck driver gets paid to do. I do definitely have a lot of respect for that kind of dedication!

You are the one who first made this thread ALL ABOUT YOU, if you look back through the posts, @Cody Fousnaugh . No one was talking about anything except how Social Security worked both here and in the UK, but every single post you have made in this thread was about YOU; so you have NO right to whine and complain if people respond to your posts about yourself.

Also, you have no right to tell anyone that they can’t post in a thread.
If you don’t like what people are posting, just remember that you started this thread, made it all about you........ and then you can refrain from doing that in the future.
And also, do not call sweet Holly a “hussy” !

Got a question: Do you always do what your wife tells you to do or only when the stuff is convenient?

She won't acknowledge this, but she IS the boss (LOL). Thing is, we discuss things together and, whatever the outcome of those discussions, we do. Even though she is the breadwinner, she often tells me how much she appreciates the things I do at home when she is working. Now, if I didn't like/want to do laundry, vacuuming and other things here...…...then, there would be a problem. But, absolutely none of it bothers me at all.

Ok, Yvonne, since you are a Mod...…..shut me down! Then, there would be no more problems, right? Don't like what I say, it's plan and simple, get rid of me. Or, is that up to Ken?

She hasn't shut anyone down; you're still here spewing nonsense. Besides, we all know you'll be making yet another dramatic exit any time now, saving Yvonne and Ken any work.

Ya know, I was just thinking that if we found the right actors and a good producer, we’d all be off of social security and be making millions for:
“As the stomach churns, and the food burns” soap opera! :)

My wife makes a little $ by doing what she does and I make a little $ doing what I do to subsidize the social security but no matter who makes this or who does that, we have no bosses in our family.
That said, even though she does have a lot of limitations she has found ways to make money which I do believe says a lot compared to your situation.
You could actually do better financially but like I have told my wayward students in the past, a person has to have a case of the “wanna’s“ in order to do the things needed to succeed.

And just as a note”. My wife doesn’t “tell” me to do whatever and I do the same, we’re a partnership.

Question is, do you and others ever "spew nonsense" on this forum. Most likely, yes.

I'm not going anywhere. You folks seem to think I'm always saying "me" in this forum. I know there are those Seniors on this forum, and not part of it, that don't get a Pension and had specific work hours and pay that they accepted. A lot of folks don't stay on a job for 30 plus years. If I would've had the kind of job I wanted, with the kind of salary I wanted, I might have stayed on a job for that amount of time. Thing is, a person can't stay on a job when they get laid-off, department or company closes or other factors.

A lot of times, long hours can hurt families. I remember hearing one CEO of a company on Undercover Boss state this: "My wife and kids are asleep when I get up in the morning and leave for work and asleep when I finally get home. Yes, they do reap the benefits of my salary by having a nice home to live in, but they basically never see me. My job is my mistress and I have to change that." And, he did.

Many folks will only take a Monday thru Friday job, with descent pay, so they can be with their families in the evenings and on the weekends.

I want to apologize to Holly...….sorry, but things got somewhat out-of-hand between us on here.

Sort of funny, but every time I mention how good of a life a friend of ours has with his wife, he changes the subject. He has a darn nice Pension, the highest SS there is and so on. My 1/2 brother is the same way.

The critical thing is that each person makes his or her own bed and must sleep in it.
There are no re-do’s, no mulligans, no going back in time, just whatever it is.....is.

Now, if we have time to whine about our circumstances then we have time to change it. Usually, that comes by stopping with the rationalizations (again which actually means, rational lies) and start with telling ourselves the truth of the matter.
2000+ failures did not stop Edison nor did all the strike out’s that followed Babe Ruth’s career. Neither made any excuses for their failures and matter of fact, Edison simply said that he now knew of 2000 ways to not make a light bulb.

If we do not wish to change then why waste the time complaining about how small the back pocket is? If there’s nothing in it and a person is still breathing, it’s because they choose not to put anything in it not because of such and such....
