@Bobby Cole Yeah, I know. All I wrote is that it was a correction and didn’t mean for Emma to think I was correcting her. I guess I should have written, “That darn @Martin Alonzo wrote acid instead of bleach” but I didn’t.

Acid, bleach, Kool Ade - he made every bit of it up, paid for the props, paid the attackers, after he had sent himself a racist letter that didn't get attention.

He really needs to spend at least one full year in jail.

Now I see why you put the @ in front of the names - otherwise you don't know people are talking about you.

@Bill Boggs Maybe news media is biased, too. Maybe we have made them that way.

Regardless of how dishonest the news, media and politicians get, resorting to twisted facts, omissions, "alternative truths" - none of which are true - it's all on them.

Lon, maybe you watch TV at too early a time.

To me there's no such thing as "The" media. There are different media and, what's more, there are different broadcasts or "formats", different articles, newspapers, docus, TV specials, reports, magazines. The worst thing is "prime time" entertainment, i.e. shallow talk shows or news bits with just the headlines and a few words added, from which you don't understand anything at all. Clearly, these programs don't intend to explain anything. They leave you alone with the news items honed down to the bare bones while not giving any background info, nor context, reasons. Hardly surprising that viewers don't understand anything.

It often makes me cringe in my armchair when I watch talk shows allegedly focussing on a current issue - at prime time, of course. Days before, trailers start being shown, the guest list and the topic is announced, e.g. organ donation, migration, environmental issues, health care, and a wide range of other issues. One thing all these prime time talk shows have in common is: they don't want to inform, they want to entertain. Surprisingly, many people seem to be unaware of that and expect to get informed about an issue. So there may be between 5 and six guests and they all make their opening statements. Then it turns out that no matter what the subject is, it's by any definition too complicated and a real exchange of arguments is to be prevented at all costs. So, whenever it's getting interesting, when it comes to the crunch, the show host would stifle the discussion in numerous ways, by interrupting and handing over to another guest or by saying something like: "Oh, that sounds very complicated. I suggest we talk about that another time." or when there's an argument between two or more people during which the participants would be forced to nail their true colors to the mast, the show host would say: "Can I bring in person X at this point...."

The bottom line is if you want to inform yourself, you need to watch programs after 11 p.m. some of which connect the dots or you'd have to use the channel's media library to watch it later.

In political discussions, "the media" generally refers to "the news media," which includes network and cable news, newspapers, and magazines, although a lot of people will confuse political pundit shows and opinion columns as being part of the news media.

When you turn on the TV and watch the news and they say something then you check the other medias and they also say the same thing some times word for word. You now it is all scripted from some where else makes you think of project mockingbird

Fortunately the Daily Mail is a mainstream UK tabloid, so we get all the news with pictures.. sometimes too many pictures tho'...... and sometimes total invented badly written news..but it seems we can't get everything from one media source which is a shame!!

I hear good things about AON news service, which may be an Amazon company. Even conservatives seem to like it, as it supposedly has news with little bias. I haven't watched it, so I can't personally "testify".

I understand the word bias and its meaning. What I do not understand is how so many people comment that the news is biased- in what way in what area- perhaps I'm watching the wrong News Channel .

I think that you are referring to OAN (not AON) news, @Don Alaska . When I used to sell insurance, I worked for AON corporation, and had to look right away and see if they now had a news platform as well as selling insurance.
The search went right to One America News, and I had heard that this is supposed to be one of the very best news sources of un-biased news.
