I'd love to know what President Trump said to Queen Elizabeth to make her smile like that. I've seldom seen her with genuine smile. Maybe it was a naughty joke? Surely, Her Majesty has a sense of humo(u)r.
I think she admired Diana's social justice stuff. As I said, I read it somewhere but cannot attest to the accuracy. I don't think many people on this side of the Atlantic think much of Camilla. She is referred to in derogatory terms if mentioned at all. Melania was not born in the U.S. and immigrated from Slovenia, so I have no idea what went through her head as a younger person.
@Beth Gallagher - we have to remember of course its not just Melania that gets the trolls going, its any pretty face that has style and grace. Including Catherine, which is so wrong when she is such a good role model as a wonderful wife and Mother, with fabulous dress sense.
She wasn't 'crowned queen''.... until 2nd June 1953 ...in total tho' actually 67 years ... and 120 days
I remember seeing her picture as the new Queen, on my mother’s LIFE magazine. I think that it was probably my first time seeing a picture of someone who was a real queen, as opposed to a fairy tale princess, and I was impressed by how beautiful and regal she looked, even at my young age. I am not exactly sure which cover photo it was, but I think maybe it was this one.
An amazing 'regal' picture Have you ever seen the Monarchs of Norway ? They were on the news a few years back, never forgot them, made a big impression, they openly cried at a memorial service @Yvonne Smith
I remember seeing the Queen's coronation live on TV. It was probably the first important event we saw on our TV.
A lot of people in the same situation @Nancy Hart - bought TVs for the occasion and those that couldn't joined the throng at neighbours houses
I'm wondering if I could be wrong, and maybe it was taped to show here. What time of day did it happen?
The whole ceremony (over 2 hours of it) is on YouTube , and in black and white, so probably how it was filmed for television back then. There is also a shorter colored version of just the procession, about 7 minutes long , and vey impressive; so I am linking that one here. We didn’t have television until I was a teenager, so we didn’t see any of this on TV when it happened.
Hmmm... We would not have been up at 5 am. Maybe they couldn't even do a live broadcast overseas back then. It was in ancient times.
Sorry, all my UK friends.......I jusT can’t help posting this one ! Hopefully, you will all think it is funny, too ?
