Scale started fluctuating this morning. Probably needs new batteries. Got out my old trusty spring-loaded scales from 1970. You have to eyeball it to the nearest half pound. AM weight: . 131.5,. Calories (6/8): . 870
Yep, if my stomach is growling it will likely keep me awake too. They say when your stomach growls it just means it's not used to being empty: "Hey, did you forget about me?" I like to keep a jar of peanuts or olives around. Pop just a few and it usually stops in a few minutes, any time of the day. And I count every single peanut. "Take that, and shut up, Stomach !!!"
I don't know what happened. Been trying to survive on dime-sized tomatoes and olives (with pits). You know how hard that can be. My notes say I consumed 1235 calories. Where'd they come from? No joke, I had a double helping of Malt-o-Meal for breakfast and a slice of toast and a very thin uncured pork chop ( or was it cured), a spat of butter, half & half in the Malt-o-Meal. The reason for the double helping of the malt- o meal is a single helping requires you to do some difficult math. My roommate says it is easier to fix a helping for two than for one. I can eat what I want, throw the rest out, or save it until tomorrow or whatever I want with it but it is easier to fix two than one. I had one helping of Spinish Souffle for lunch, a boiled egg, bread, a half cup of banana pudding and, you know those olives and tomatoes, well a small salad with olive oil. I thought I was doing so good until I weighed this morning. I hope that banana pudding didn't spike my blood sugar. Calories---1235 Weight:---176.4
Calories (6/9):.. 850 Weight:.. 131.0 I had some problems with arithmetic too, @Bill Boggs Yesterday was the hardest day so far. I thought it was because I started too early, but just figured out I added wrong. Decided to go just a little higher on calories, and thought I was quitting with 950, but it was really 850, due to an arithmetic error. Boiled a huge pot of frozen mixed vegetables yesterday. So it was lots of pinto beans and mixed vegetables, with some cheese, and a few olives and some pickled beets. Less fat than usual. Maybe that was the difference.
Congratulations, you keep bring your weight down. Don't know how you keep going on so few calories. Can you keep it up? You'll be like a broom handle, or popeye's girlfriend.
I belonged to a weight loss and fitness forum years ago. They ran a challenge like this. Lots of members joined. The experts there said you shouldn't go below 1200 calories/day, so I didn't try, just to make them happy. Their reasons didn't make sense. The "starvation mode" theory, which I've never bought into. Decided to try it lower this time. It's not as hard as I thought it would be, but not much physical activity lately. BMI at 125 lbs would be 20.8. That's well within the normal range (19-24).
I have read a lot about that "starvation mode" theory, which I totally believe is bunk. I read one scientific paper that said a slight change in metabolism occurs but only after many months of continued "starvation." Like you, I must eat less than 1000 calories a day to lose weight, because I'm short and don't require a lot of calories to maintain. It would be nice to be 6" taller!!
Well...... according to my doctor..... I am definitely NOT overweight.... Not at all .... My problem is I am way too short.... If I were 7' 10".... I would be perfect for my weight, but I am only 5'10" which makes me too short....
June 11 Weight 131.0 Calories (6/10) 1000 No change Tried popcorn last night. 1/4 cup unpopped. About 20% of the kernels didn't pop or didn't pop enough to eat, so I counted it as 200. No butter. Not good, but not awful. Kept you busy. Won't try it again. Total came to 970, so I popped 6 olives (in my mouth) to make it a nice round number.
Sorry to hear that Bill, but you know what's best for you. Glad your problems are minor ones. I'll keep going, but not report unless someone else joins.
OK... I have finally decided to go on induction low carb.. unfortunately, I gained a few pounds and it is starting to run away with me.. My weight should be around the 206 to 209 mark.. As long as the first 2 numbers are 20, I'm OK with that... NOW ... This morning I weighed myself and it was...... 221.8 pounds.. That means I have about 15 pounds to lose.. I started today being on induction.. I will weigh myself every Sunday morning upon waking up.. I promise to be very honest with the numbers.. If not, I'm only fooling myself, not you....
That's great, @Steve North. I know exactly what you mean about fooling yourself by not being honest with the numbers. It's silly and self-defeating. I mowed the lawn (push mower) and did some weed spraying yesterday on 880 calories. Didn't get hungry at all, but the next day (today) was tough. Maybe it was my imagination, I don't know. Anyway I took today off and did maintenance (1800 cals). Starting back tomorrow. Morning weight today: 130.6.
