What I don't get is those that weigh themselves every day.. some even weigh themselves twice a day.. I call that "overobcessed" .... Once a week should be enough.. If you had a large meal for supper or if you didn't have a bowl movement today, your weight will be totally inaccurate.. Remember, you did not gain the weight day by day, but over time.. It will take you the time to lose it..
Simple.... If what you eat in a day is 700 calories below your maintenance level, then ON AVERAGE, it will show up on a digital scale as -0.2 pounds every morning. . It makes dieting a fun game. . It's daily motivation.. Makes you want to jump out of bed every morning, just to go jump on the scales! Sure there are fluctuations. One day you won't see a loss, maybe even a gain, but you can almost always explain why. . And it's likely to resolve itself the very next day.. I don't want to wait a whole week to have fun.
As I mentioned in another thread about low carb, I have been reading about the zero carb diet, and have decided to cut my carbs altogether and give it a try. The information seems to report not only weight loss, but other health benefits, like not having arthritis pain, or gut problems (and heaven knows there seems to be a lot of that nowadays). I have joined a couple of facebook groups that focus on zero carb WOE (way of eating) and there are some amazing results being posted by people on those forums. One woman showed a picture of herself, January 2018, over 500 lbs, and then one this spring at 250 lbs, and she said that most of her physical ailments were either gone, or getting better, she feels great, and no bad affects from eating a carnivore diet. She plans on staying on this WOE until she is at her goal weight. I started earlier this week, and so far have lost about 2 lbs, and feeling great. I have basically NO hunger, and I think that when I do get hungry, it is more of a habit of eating at a certain time. I always have my meal for the day in the early afternoon, when we get home from the fitness center, so my mind expects to eat then.
I've noticed the same thing about the stomach growling not having much to do with actual hunger. More of a timing thing. Often if I eat a lot just before I got to bed, old Stomach will start growling first thing in the morning. If I don't, it won't. I never eat breakfast. Just feels forced when I do. Maybe it growls while you're sleeping otherwise. Or maybe since it realizes you won't notice while you're sleeping, it doesn't bother. Interesting about the no carbs. I was there for a few days last week, not intentionally, but it just worked out that way when I was eating a lot of cabbage. When I shifted to the pinto beans it was noticeably harder, but still not as hard as with a lot of simple carbs. I have another head of cabbage now.
What I have read about autophagy, it happens during the night, once our food for the day has been digested, then our body shifts into repair mode, and starts using up old , useless cells, and burning the extra fat for fuel . This is why people who are doing intermittent fasting of one kind or another do not get all of the loose skin folds when they lose weight, because during autophagy, our body burns them up. Once you are burning fat for fuel, your body will just keep doing that until you eat something with carbs that causes an insulin spike and makes you hungry again. You really only get hungry a lot when you are burning sugar for fuel, because we have a much larger fuel supply of fat (even skinny people) than we do of sugar in our body.
I remember a long discussion about hunger once, on that health forum. The main question was, how can you tell if you are really hungry? .What does it feel like? ..(And for that matter, what is the definition of hungry.) I don't think they reached a consensus. Do you have any information about those things, @Yvonne Smith ? I'd be interested in what you think.
Somebody said there would be no rules, so I'm not going to list my calories. My weight will more or less be an indication of how many I'm consuming and I hope to continue to drop a pound or so every now and then. So good eating on what you can. 5:30 Saturday Morning Weight: 173.8
The reason for not counting calories is I am keeping a daily written record for my doctor of my Weight, of my Blood Sugar, of my Blood Pressure lying down, sitting, and standing up. This is kind of a hassle every morning before I eat or drink. I think it is to be for only a month. Trying to figure out my daily dizziness or light headedness and blurered vision and some problems with diabetes. Nothing special, just an aging situation.
@Bill Boggs: Sounds like a lot of stuff to keep track of, but if they can figure it out, it will be worth it. Good luck Bill.
